How to retrieve File Summary Property.

Hello all,

I'm just wondering if it is possible to retrieve more information on a file.
For example a word file property contains a summary tab when you right-click
on it in the file explorer; and there are other informations like "Title",
"Subject", and "Author".

Thks,
Simon

Thanks Herfried. It sure looks quite complicated. I'll need some time to
look thru your source. However, if there are some other pointers, pls do
advice.

Simon,

You ask directly about the information in a file, not the information in the
filesystem.

That will be almost fore every file type different. For Office you can have
a look at Office automation integrated in VS 2005 in Net.

I hope this helps,

Cor

Thanks all. Guess that there is no easy way of doing this. I think I'll just
leave this feature out of my program. Hopefully VS2005 has an easier way of
doing it.

I am using the C# DirectoryEntry class to retrieve the Properties of an user object in the Active Directory. I need to get the First Name and Last Name as properties. I know it is not supported with the ADSI NT Provider and only supported in the LDAP Provider. So given an UserId (UID) how can I read the First Name and Last Name using LDAP Provider. If anybody can help me with a C# sample code it would of great help. Thanks in advance.

Since no one else knew how to do this I sat here all morning experimenting with this and this is what I came up with... Its an example of how to get a list of items back from a virtual mode list view in .NET 2.0 with multiple selection turned on... since the .NET documentation is EXTREAML vague on how to do this and offers no clue on what the virtual mode events do or how to use them... just thought this might help someone else out...

I hope I am just missing something easy, and that someone can point me in the right direction, but I cannot seem to find out how to change the title property of any random file using VB.NET. For example, in Notepad, with a saved text file, one can right click on the file and go to properties, and then go to the third tab ; here there is a property called Title, and it is this that i wish to change, and have found ways to get close to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
