restricting upload image size

ASP .NET has a built in limit of the request size (which is configurable) of
4MB. So, if a user were to upload a file that exceeded this, an exception
is thrown and a not so informative page is displayed due to the error code
being set to 400 (the page cannot be displayed page).

I found an article that had this snippet of code that you can add to
global.asax.vb that you could "hopefully" redirect the user to a more
friendly looking error page.

Sub Application_Err or(ByVal sender As Object, _
ByVal e As EventArgs)
' Fires when an error occurs
' Check to see whether we came
' from the upload form
If Path.GetFileNam e(Request.Path) = _
"UploadForm.asp x" Then
' Get the error details
Dim appException As System.Exceptio n = _
Server.GetLastE rror()
Dim checkException As HttpException = _
CType(appExcept ion, HttpException)
' Verify the expected error
If checkException. GetHttpCode = 400 And _
checkException. ErrorCode = -2147467259 Then
' Error 400 = bad request, user
' tried to upload a file that's too large
Session("ImageT ooLarge") = True
Server.ClearErr or()
' Go to the original target page
Response.Redire ct("UploadForm. aspx")
End If
End If
' For other errors, just accept the default processing
End Sub
From what I've tested so far, it doesn't work. Has anyone out there tried
something similar and had any amount of success? This is a pretty big issue
for our application and we'd like to try and fix it. Thanks.

Regards,
Bill Rowell

But what I really want to be able to do is to update an existing record in a table in MySQL with the path & filename to the image. I have successfully uploaded and performed an update query on the database, but the problem I have is I cannot retain the primary key field in a variable which is then used in a SQL update...

Howdy, I have a function that uploads an image and that works great. I love ..Nets built in upload, so much easier than 3rd party uploaders! Now I am making a public function that will take the path of the uploaded image, and resize it with the provided dimensions. My function is below. The current function is returning an error when run from the upload function: A generic error occurred in GDI+. Not sure what exactly that means. From what...

Hi, I've got a PHP Upload Form that works great, unless that is, the image your uploading has been modified through a photo editing software. Example: if I upload the image straight from a camera or other, it uploads fine. However, If I want to rotate the image, or resize it with photoshop or simmilar, making sure to save it again as a jpg, the PHP upload won't upload the image.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
