I wish to execute code from a string. The string will have a function name,
which will return a string:
Dim a as string
a = "MyFunctionName(param1, param2)"
I have seen a ton of people discuss how reflection does this, but I cannot
find the syntax to do this. I have tried several code example off of
gotdotnet and other articles. Can somebody please show me the code to do
this?

Hi,
I have been reading some text on C and C++ (i.e advanced books). One
of the books mentioned that C++ requires a runtime support whereas C
does not - what the author was trying to say was that once you compile
a C program the executable created is all that is needed whereas if you
compile a C++ program the executable created requires a C++ runtime
installed on your system to run the program.
Can someone please provide more...

I am just starting to work with reflection and I want to create a log that saves relevant information if a method call fails so I
can call that method again later using reflection.
I am experimenting a bit with what I need to do this and have the following code snippet. But first if I pass the assembly name and
type to Activator.CreateInstance() it always fails. However if I walk my assembly and get a type value, the call to...

I would like some way to determine every place in my solution where a given
method of a given class is called (not defined). Preferably I would like to
know the source file name and line number of each method call. Is this
possible using reflection or some other method?
Thanks very much.

I have a class the reads in a file and sets the values of the file into its
properties. This class is used to populate the data onto a form. This form
has controls created at runtime based on user input (file values when file
is opened). I was hoping to put the name of the property in the tag of each
control and fire an event if the a file is open when the control is created
and use the tag to get the correct property from the class. ...

Sorry for the late reply. I was busy attending Microsoft Teched 2004 Malaysia.
Oh i didn't know you can set off the security in CAS.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
