I get the impression that most people who are using objects in their PHP projects are mixing them with procedural code. The design, I think, is one where the procedural code is the client code, and the classes are a library of utility code. As such, when I've asked about how to get globals into objects, I've been told that I should pass them in as the parameters to a method. Easy enough if you have some procedural code. This answer I've...

What is a reasonable way to manage a complex form with 5 or so tabs with 100 or more controls bound to 5-10 tables in a database? Pasting all those controls, datasets, data adapters directly onto the form resulted in an unwieldy file of nearly 10,000 lines of code. Seems like there must be a better way.

Hello, What is the Pythonic way of implementing getters and setters. I've heard people say the use of accessors is not Pythonic. But why? And what is the alternative? I refrain from using them because they smell "Javaish." But now my code base is expanding and I'm beginning to appreciate the wisdom behind them. I welcome example code and illustrations.

So I made a basic vending machine in C++, it deals out Toasted sandwiches or normal sandwiches with options of Fillings. It was all very easy with a Visual Basic style and was a quick job, however now I have to apply mediator, class factory and command pattern. After some research I see what each is and what it does, so I'm thinking, command pattern applied to the buttons, class factory to create choices of beverage and mediator to create a...

This is probably a really basic question, but I know someone will be able to help me. I have a single object A that contains a hash of objects B. Each object B contains its own TCP client object containing a connection to a server somewhere. There is also a completely separate hash of objects C at the same place as Object A. When I get TCP data into the TCP client I need to let all of the object C's know about it. I Was wondering if I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
