load event, and then close. But apparently I cant close a form in the load

Hello All,
I have encountered a problem.
I am using visual inheritance and my base form adds an event handler on Form
Load using the AddHandler Keyword.
The problem is that if the Event Handler code is there, when I create the
inherited form I get the error "Object Reference not set to an instance of
an object". If it is not I get no error.
I have tried leaving this code in the forms Sub New, but it produces the

event. The event will not raise threw the inherited form. I was wondering
if events work threw inheritance or should I use some other method?

I have a login form which I want to display with the showdialog method. When I do that the event handler for the load event does not run. If I use the show method the load event handler runs perfectly. I can't find any documentation regarding the load event not firing when a form is displayed using the showdialog method.

I have a little more info about this problem I can't seem to solve!
I know it'll take a minute to study the lising but if you like to sove
puzzles there is one there.
I have a Form (FV&C) containing a userconrtrol (CF&E)
I do a ShowDialog for the form and the form's Load event calls a method of
the UserControl.

Hello!
When exactly is it important or advisable to use this form load event
handler compare to using the C-tor.
For example here I create an event handler called dataBoundGridForm that is
called when the form is loaded.
this.Load += new System.EventHandler(this.dataBoundGridForm_Load);
I mean if I compare form load with the C-tor I think that it's enough to put
the code into the C-tor instead
