drawing and moving shapes

Hello newsgroup,

I am pretty new to .NET and need some advise on
how to approach to the following:

I have to create an application with a drawing surface, where some
predefined shapes (picture boxes with icons in it) can be dropped and moved
around.
This should work like some MS Visio on a very basic level.
The shapes should be dragged from a list.
How would I do something like this?
Maybe there is some sample out there?

Thanks in advance for your help

Take a look at the GDI+ FAQ or search on bobpowell.net for "retained mode"

Hi there, For a very specific service, I have created a PHP script that uses the GD library functions to create a PNG image from a few lines of XML data describing a simple diagram/drawing. It's cool and works, writing the XML data in a text editor is straightforward for me because I designed the format. I have no idea however how I can make a simple online drawing program that creates this XML code. The code is realy simple, just...

To be more specific, I want to design a VB.Net Windows form where end user will mark damages on an airplane picture (which might be background picture of the form) using a marker object that has a circle (with a...

Hi I have a math kinda problem where I'm trying to split some lines when two or more lines connect two shapes. The reason I am doing this is to make it clear that there are multiple lines connecting the two shapes. http://www.blackwaterbadgers.co.uk/image1.bmp Image 1 shows how if you have a line between two shapes, the line is straight. if you have more than one line, the lines will start overlapping

My app has an image (black/white tiff) displayed in a picturebox (scanned text document). I need the user to be able to draw either white or black rectangles on it. (to hide/cover up sensitive information, like credit card numbers). I can do this by loading the file into a graphics object, and then using the graphics object's methods to do the drawing. The modified file is then re-displayed on the screen. (by the way, I am using the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
