Another book question.

So many books, so much crap....

I am an MCSD moving to .net. What are you guys reading now to help make the
transition ?
I hear that Connell's book is pretty good.

Thanks.

Personally, I like the Microsoft .NET Core Requirements, its a study guide
for the exams, but I think that there is a wealth of relative information in
there. An instructor lead course might help as well

Hello! I'm reading a book about C++ and there is something that I don't understand so I ask you. I have marked the section from the book that is of intertest by tagging it with BOOK START HERE and ending with BOOK ENDING HERE. All that text between is just a copy from the book. My question come after the text section. The book says

I am not a programmer, I'm an engineer trying to make an interface to a product I'm designing. I have used C# to make a form that interrogates the unit via the serial port and receives the data. I want to be able to draw lines in a picturebox based upon certain data points I have received. I dragged a picturebox from the toolbar onto my form, but after having gone through the help files, looking online and trying a variety of things, I...

Hi, I am new to the MVP pattern and one of the main reasons that we are going this route is because we are doing Scrum with 30 day sprints - so we have a continually morphing design. We are using TDD as well to improve our ability to refactor... you probably all know this approach. Although the user iterface is supposedly one of the last things that you need to do, this is a web app and we have multiple nested Repeaters on the page....

Hello, I have a form with several buttons, and I need to post this data to several different applications. In ASP.NET 1.1 it was quite easy - I just used HTML controls (text or hidden), then assigned the action to each button on Page_Load event: Me.ibPayWM.Attributes.Add("onclick", "noPostBack('https://merchant.webmoney.ru/lmi/payment.asp');") Me.ibPayRx.Attributes.Add("onclick",

I figure that someone good at dotnet can look at this and give me a clue on how to easily organize this code? If there is a unique identifier like "Publisher" with a bunch of "Book" that are published under them (I used the arraylist class in the publisher class). How should the code be organized, and how can the books properties like "Name" be easily called in the main code, or searched for in the main code?

Hello again, I'm having a new problem converting a dtd to an xml schema. This once is a little bit more complicated than in my previous question. The following file validates correctly: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <!DOCTYPE books > <books> <book title="Winter's Heart" isbn="123456789"> <author name="Robert Jordan"/>

I am incorporating three existing programs into a new "all in one" program. I have added the three projects to the new all in one project. How do I instruct the new initial menu to launch the main menu in each one? I have tried using the DIM statement with .ShowDialog, however, the forms are not recognized as they are listed in seperate projects. Please advise. Thanks, Dr. S.

I am thinking about purchasing a book, but wanted to make sure I could get through the code that implements what the book is about (Artificial Intelligence a Modern Approach). Anyway, I'm not a very good programmer and OOP is still sinking in, so please don't answer my questions like I really know anything. MY QUESTION: What is a slot? In class Object below the __init__ has a slot. Note: The slot makes use of a data object called...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
