Get actual executable file path in Registry

yxq
Hello,
I want to make a utility to clean Registry, my problem is that:
How to get actual executable file path?

There are lots of command line modes in Registry:

c:\program files\cccc\aaa. exe /i
c:\program files\cccc\aaa. exe -i
"c:\program files\cccc\aaa. exe" /i
c:\program files\cccc\aaa. exe -i %1
"c:\program files\cccc\aaa. exe /i"

I ONLY want to get the actual executable file path "c:\program
files\cccc\aaa. exe",
is there a standard syntax or examples code?

Thank you very much

Hi yxq,
You want to use a Regex expression to do what you want.
See microsofts website for details about the regex language.

Search for regular expressions regex language.

Good luck.

Hi, is there a possibility how to determine a services executable file name (and path) from within the service itself ? I need to create multiple services of the same application. The app needs to read a config file, which name depends on the name of the application's executable itself. So hardcoding it in the registry is no solution ...

This has probably been answered before, but my Google skills have failed me so far... Is there an os independent way of checking to see if a particular executable is on the path? Basically what I want to do is run code like: i, o, e = os.popen3(executable_name) but I'd like to give an informative error if 'executable_name' doesn't refer to an executable on the path. The idea is to differentiate between errors generated by not being...

I'd like to launch an executable file from a web page. Basically, the user enters seven parameters and then clicks a button to generate a graph. The input is written to a file and then read by the exe. The exe then generates a graph based upon the input parameters. I am reading about the Process class and wondering if that is the best approach to this. Can you recommend a KB article?

Hello, I have a need to kill a process. It sounds each enough, but the problem is that I have multiple executables running from different paths. Say, I have MyService.exe running from C:\FolderA and the same MyService.exe running in C:\FolderB. I want to kill the process that is running under C:\FolderA. So I guess I have a need to get the Process ID for the executable under C:\FolderA. How can I kill the process when you know the...

I am building this SQL Server database app in which i can store files. In order to display files I want to have the app show the associated icon for the extension of the file that is in the database. Therefore the file doesnt really exist on the user's hard drive. All the file extracting techniques require that I have the actual file on the drive in order to get an icon for it. There is a workaround for this: i could create dummy files with...

I have a program wherein I want one behavior when a file is set as executable and a different behavior if it is not. Is there a simple way to determine whether a given named file is executable that does not resort to all the lowlevel ugliness of os.stat() AND that is portable across Win32 and *nix? I am trying to run an executable using shell. The executable look for certain files in the same directory and then run on those files. My problem: I have created a form which asks from the user to locate those files using browse option. Then I ask the user to locate the executable. The next step is to copy the executable to those files directory. Everything is dandy uptil here, but when I use the shell to run that executable, the executable...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
