I'm investigating getting Microsoft Navision to do stuff from a Python
script. The recommended way seems to be to use message queues (MSMQ).
I can get Navision to send a message to itself fine. I found a couple
of code example in an ancient message in this newsgroup. The send.py
one I changed to the following:
from win32com.client import gencache
msmq = gencache.EnsureModule('{D7D6E071-DCCD-11D0-AA4B-0060970DEBAE}',
0, 1, 0)

Did anybody use this Message Queuing and knew all details about it? What's
the physical limit of this Message Queuing system, number of messages,
mbytes, message size? Where it stores messages, RAM, DISK? Do we lose
everything if the machine is just rebooted or we can save all messages on
disk to send them later where we're on line?

Hi all!
I have few questions regarding .net windows services
1. are onStart, onStop and other "system" events invoked in separate threads
than msmq events?
2. if so, is there a way for the onStop event to wait with stopping the
service until pending msmq events are finished?
3. if not, does that mean that the onStop event would actually be invoked
after all pending events are finished?

Hi All,
I am going to develop two application which will talk to each other
using MSMQ. I have couple of questions
1. Do we need to install anything extra in client PC to use MSMQ? Since
clients may not have all the XP components installed. Is there a way to
work around this issue if any?
2. Does the user need to be an admin to use the MSMQ since the app will
run under user permission?

I am having a perplexing issue and am wondering if anyone can see the
flaw in my setup.
I have 3 windows services and 3 message queues. Each service resides
in the same directory and they all have a reference to the same dll(a
private assembly (although it does have a strong key)). The class in
this assembly takes the name of the message queue to monitor in its
constructor. Then the instantiated class constantly reads the queue
(MSMQ...

I am writing a WCF Service using MSMQ hosted in a Windows Service on Windows
XP. All the required components are installed (.NET3, MSMQ, etc).
For some reason my service tries to start and then stops right away. I have
looked at everything and can't see anything wrong - in fact, I started this
a few weeks ago and I swear it was running at one point.
I have included the app.config and service code below - any idea why my
service will...

Hi All,
I have 2 Dot Net Windows services. The 1st service inserts a message into an MSMQ queue. The second service picks it up from the queue and processes it. It then removes it from the queue after successful processing.
The problem is that though the sending service sends only 1 message, the receiving service receives multiple messages in the queue with different message IDs.
This behaviour is random, though it generally happens when...

Hi,
I have a problem when I try to start an application using MSMQ from a
Windows Service. The application runs on a server. The client send a
message to a public queue created on the server, the server process
the request and return the result to a public queue on the client.
All is working fine if I start my application directly on the server.
But we want to embed the start of the application into a Windows
service. When I install...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
