We just decided to take our application we've created at work into a real
world development situation, with teams. Currently all we use is Visual
Source Safe, however; I'd like to know of some tools you guys depend on also
so we can get an idea of what tools other people use too in the team
environment to help them conduct business. So we have an idea of what you
guys use with VB.NET (which is what we code in) that maybe we could find
useful also. Thanks a lot! (we also use SQL Server 2000 incase you have any
neat tools for that also) 7 1125
Personally, I'm looking forward to Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition.
Here's more information: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...asp?frame=true
It sounds like the holy grail we've all been waiting for. Then again, you
know how effective Microsoft's marketing team can be! So I hope it lives up
to the hype.

For team development using VS.NET read this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
For alternative SCM tools to Source Safe and VS Team System, see www.perforce.com and www.sourcegear.com. They have also white papers and
guides useful even if you don´t buy them.
For the build process see http://www.finalbuilder.com and http://www.visualbuild.com
For testing see http://www.nunit.org/

Hello everyone!
I would like to know about who "can" and "should" be included in the
Software Development Teams for small and startup companies.
Consider this scenario: Three persons wish to develop and sell software but
they are low in budget and could not hire many people to perform different
kind of roles. So each of them has to wear multiple hats (such as planning,
developing, testing...etc) successfully.

Hello!
Can anyone tell me where to read more about best practices about this:
Should I put data in a seperate scheme for tables,
packages in anoter schema
and create a lot of users that have access to (some) packages.
When the tables are in anoter schema than the packages, where should the
table-API (generated from Designer) be?

I need to build a new .NET development server (Visual Studio) for 50 users
who will be accesing the server using Windows Server 2003 Terminal Service.
Do you have any advice in terms of how big/fast the box should be, how many
processors, RAM, disk drives, etc.? I appreciate anybody's input on this.

Hi folks,
I'm making a little research project about programming languages e
their respective IDEs. The goal is to trace each language silhouettes,
where it fits better, their goods/bads and the costs of developing in
this language.
It's easy to find projects that doesn't worked as expected because
they were develop with the wrong toolkit, or people that now dislike a
given language because didn't know where the language is better...

Hello Bytes!
Maybe my question seems a bit silly (as one could simply answer it "Well, what are you more passionate about?" or stuff like that - please don't answer like this), but I am in a bit of a dilemma and time is short at the moment and I need to make a decision before it's too late.
I have just begun my second year in a UK uni for a BSc Hons Web Systems Development but I am not that happy about the course. Very diluted in my opinion....

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
