Hi,
I have seen reference to this problem several times in various newsgroups.
The problem is in opening an ASP.NET web application created using Visual
Studio 2002 (.NET 1.0) in Visual Studio 2003 (.NET 1.1). I am at my wits end
with this problem!!!
I have run the aspnet_regiis -i command, and successfully (or so the command
says) upgraded all scrips for all the ASP.NET projects on my machine to 1.1.
When I check the...

Hi,
I am attempting to upgrade a VS.NET 2003 web project to VS 2005 Beta 2. It
has been converted ok according to the conversion wizard log but when
building the project there are heaps of errors relating to references not
being found or not being declared. I think it has something to do with the
namespaces that it has generated. Has anybody come across a similar problem
while upgrading and if so were you able to solve it?
Regards,

Hi,
I have just used the import Wizard to import a VS 2003 app to VS 2005.
I have a lot of work to do to enable it to compile successfully with all the
errors and warnings it gave me, but as a starting point the compiler can no
longer find the function as at the bottom of this posting, that was in the
Global.asax.vb file.
All the function does is give an easy / quick way of getting the application

Ok, after three C# books, (C# How to Program, Programming in the Key
of C#, and C# Weekend Crash Course) and three weeks, I believe I have
tried everything to make a certain form function correctly. I am
trying to learn C# after playing around for a bit with procedural
programming with PHP, not OOP, and believe I have learned quite a bit
in three weeks, just not enough to accomplish this one task.
If anyone has a bit of free time and...

I know it's in Beta 2, but I can't report any good experiences with
upgrading a project form 2003 to 2005.
I tried to upgrade a 2003 project to C# Express 2005. My application has
hardly anything, as I'd just started on it. It contains just a main form,
and about box and a few class files.
After upgrading it - which seemed to go smoothly, my main form wouldn't
load. Some errors because of a custom control that I had created. I
deleted...

Hi,
I am upgrading a VB6 project that used a stdPicture and passed it's handle
property to a DirectX 7 API function.
VB .net doesn't support the stdPicture and advises using
system.drawing.image as an alternative, but the .net image control doesn't
have a handle property.
I have worked out how to add a stdPicture object to my .net project by

I have some rather large programs written in VB .net. I've been trying to
find some information as to if they need to be upgraded to VB .net 2005 and
how that would be done.
I've been looking on the MS web site, there is some information on upgrading
Visual Basic (not .net) to 2005 but not VB .net.
Thank you in advance.

I'm really starting to hate writing services -- or trying to, anyway.
Why do I need to rename my project to the service name?
Why do I need to set the "ServiceName" property to my service name?
Why do I need to set a property within my code to the service name?
Are all these required or am I just doing this for consistency purposes?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
