I have some rather large programs written in VB .net. I've been trying to
find some information as to if they need to be upgraded to VB .net 2005 and
how that would be done.
I've been looking on the MS web site, there is some information on upgrading
Visual Basic (not .net) to 2005 but not VB .net.
Thank you in advance. 2 1184
Define 'need'. Nothing needs to be upgraded. If you still have the 1.1
framework, you can keep running your software.
As far as upgrading, open up the project to be upgraded in 2005, which will
launch the upgrade wizard and do the conversion.

Kyle,
Moving to Visual Studio 2005 will not improve performance or automatically
add new features. There is also a bit of a learning curve.
If you are continuing to develop this project and if someone will pay for
the upgrade, then it might be worth it.

Hi,
I have just used the import Wizard to import a VS 2003 app to VS 2005.
I have a lot of work to do to enable it to compile successfully with all the
errors and warnings it gave me, but as a starting point the compiler can no
longer find the function as at the bottom of this posting, that was in the
Global.asax.vb file.
All the function does is give an easy / quick way of getting the application

When I ordered my new laptop, Sony didn't offer Access 2003 in its bundles.
Recently, I have begun to design Access databases using an copy of Access
2002 from my previous laptop. It works fine, but I would like to have all
the office apps on the same version. So I have a few questions:
1) Is the file format the same as 2002? Can 2002 users read 2003 files?
2) What are the major reasons for upgrading to 2002 ?

I know it's in Beta 2, but I can't report any good experiences with
upgrading a project form 2003 to 2005.
I tried to upgrade a 2003 project to C# Express 2005. My application has
hardly anything, as I'd just started on it. It contains just a main form,
and about box and a few class files.
After upgrading it - which seemed to go smoothly, my main form wouldn't
load. Some errors because of a custom control that I had created. I
deleted...

Hi,
I have received a source code project written in C++ VS.NET 2003 on .NET 1.1
that compiles without a problem.
I have opened this source code in VS.NET 2005 and the Log wizard says that
Errors 0 and Warnings 0.
When trying to recompile the project I have received these errors:

Couple of questions about upgrading an existing installation of VB2003
(Pro) to 2005 (Pro):
1. Not having dabbled in VB2005 yet, I'd feel more comfortable also
keeping a working VB2003 environment available to me for program
maintenance etc. Is there likely to be any problem in doing this?
And, as an addendum to this question and something that may be obvious
but not to me! To what extent is VB2005 tied to v2.0 of the Framework?

hi.
i'min a situation where i might need to upgrade python. i have the current
version of python for FC3. i might need to have the version for FC4. i built
the version that's on FC4 from the python source RPM.
however, when i simply try to install the resulting RPM, the app gives me
dependency issues from apps that are dependent on the previous/current
version of python.

Please bear with this old dino here, who never upgraded to vs2005, the
reason being that I am soooooo comfortable working with that rock-
solid vs2003 and my development time so far has mainly been devoted to
maintenance of existing 1.1 web sites. Now the present / future seems
to have caught up with me, and this dog now has consider to 1) do the
thing and learn new tricks or 2) sit tight and wait for vs2008 and
learn a lot of new tricks...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
