Problems with Interop and AxInterop references

Hi,

I was building a deployment project and included the manifest file
directly in the application folder (perhaps not wise) so that the exe
would display in XP style.

When I built the deployment project lots of the references in my main
project (the thing the deployment project would install) become
broken. The path info had disappeared. On trying to re-Add many of
these references I note that there are Interop.SomeNam e.dll and
AxInterop.SomeN ame.dll files within the \obj subdirectory of the main
project dir. If I attempt to add these then references relating to
these names appear, e.g Interop.SomeNam e, Problem is that the original
ref was 'SomeName', and while I can get the main project to build I
then get runtime errors with 'unregistered classes'. It's as thought
the original DLL is nowhere to be found... I think the Interop and
AxInterop files are auto-gen's by VB as wrappers around the original
COM/VB6.0 DLL (?)

Any ideas? Anyone experienced anything similar?

Cheers

Hi, I try to make an application in VB.NET that can read a Belgian EID but I have some problems. when I execute the function GetID, it returns 0 (retstatus), wich means that everything was OK, but the two parameters I have given with the function: MapColID and CertifCheck, are still nothing. MapColID normally contains the data.

When I use a COM control (via add reference) it generates interop when the com is dragged into a form it creates axinterop. what is more interesting is the axinterop works fine, the interop causes com exception error. i know these inherit from different base classes, but why the problem. thanks

Hi I have read the various postings relating to Interop strong name signing and cannot find an example similar to mine. I have stringly named my AxInterops/Interops and they all work just fine, but problems occur when I need to reference a thirdparty's component. In my case I am talking about Interop.ShDocVw and AxInterop.ShDocVw. If

I recently referenced a COM (ActiveX?) dll in my project. .Net seemed to create two wrappers for it: Interop.xxx.dll and AxInterop.xxx.dll. Why did it create two and what is the difference between them? Do I need both of them? Thanks, -- Chris

I am trying to understand how legacy controls (for example, those created with Visual Studio C++ 6.0) work in Vs2005. I have run into some problems. The legacy control is MfcAxc1.ocx. After the control is imported into Vs2005 Toolbox and then added to a Windows Form, two files are generated-- AxInterop.MFCAXC1Lib.dll

I have Googled and done a search in the VB induced help. No answer is apparent. What is the difference of dlls prefixed with Ax and those without? Best I can see, Ax stands for the older "ActiveX". I have an application which seems to want both versions. They are both listed in the References page top pane along with some System and Drawing dlls.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
