Bypassing the WOW64 File Redirector on Server 2003 64Bit

I am running a 32bit VB .Net application in Windows Server 2003 64bit
edition. The application uses the function System.IO.File. Exists() to check
the existance of a file in the directory "%systemroot%\s ystem32". However,
the call always fails becuase WOW64 is redirecting the existance check to
"%systemroot%\S ysWOW64". Is there any way I can bypass the WOW64 File
Redirector?

Context: Running Windows 2003 Server on an intranet. A web is configured with an anonymous access account that is a domain account that has been granted the desired access to a file on another server in the domain. An asp page in the web attempts to open (or any other access) the remote file and fails. Auditing is enabled on the remote system and for the file in question but no access denied records are being recorded.

I have a 1.1 asp.net project that has been converted by the conversion wizard. By and large the app runs allright except for one page... On one of the .aspx pages, the code behind file is not getting executed. It looks identical to several of the other pages that are executing fine. CodeFile="PageOne.aspx.vb" is specified in this page the same way it is specified in the other pages that are working. When running the page gets...

I will soon be replacing my computer with a new one running XP 64. I use Visual Studio 2003 and I expect to have problems. Do I need to upgrade to VS 2005 to write 64 bit applications? Do I need to have a 64 bit version of the dot net framework installed? What other things had I better consider?

Here is the situation: I wrote a VB programm, which stores all the information in a single Access database file using jet engine. It worked well, however one of my customs reported that there was some problems with this programm. I checked, the log files showed that the database was corrupted. The customer told me that there no 'illegal' operation such as pull out the plug, or kill the programm via task manager... So is there any...

Hi guys I've been investigating a problem whereby one of our webapps uses a different .NET version to most of the others. Everything was fine, but we recently moved our web server stuff to a new machine, which I discovered only afterwards runs Windows 2003 Server x64. The problem is... the missing ASP.NET tab in IIS.

Hi. I have a Dell Server with Windows 2003 R2 SP2 64bit ,SQL Server 2005 SP2 (also 64Bit) and 12GB Ram. The Problem is, that the SQL Server Process only allocates max 90-100MB. That's why big SQLs run very slow. I checked the setup variables on the managment console and everything seems to be ok. I don't know how to solve this problem. Please help!

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
