I seem to always want to do this type of join, but I can never find
how to do this.
I am trying to join two tables. The parent table will always have one
row of data and the child may have 0 to 45 rows of data. I am trying
to join the tables in an outer join, so if 0 rows in child it is not
affected. But I only want one row returned of the child.
How do I do this in mySQL?

I haven't been able to figure this out and would
appreciate some help...
I have two tables, both with autonumber primary
keys, and linked in a conventional master-child
relationship. I've created forms for both those
tables, and inserted the child table form into the
master table form as a subform. It works just as
it is supposed to, in that I can create a new master
record, and then add detail records.

is filled and manipulated on one particular web page. During the user
interaction one of the child tables can have records inserted,edited,
or deleted. Upon clicking save I call the Update method of my
dataAdapter mapped to the child table in my db and pass the dataset

I keep getting the following message when adding a new record to a database
that has two tables. On table is a parent to the other. I am adding a new
parent record that has child records and I get the following:
ForeignKeyConstraint drtblCDstblSongs requires the child key value(9) to
exist in the parent table. Do you want to correct the value? Is there a

Hello,
I have 2 tables with a relationship set up in the dataset with vb
..net. I add a new record to the parent table then edit an existing child
record to have the new parent ID. However when I do the update the changed
parentid in the child table fails to change. No error is given its just that
the change is not written to the Database.
When I step through the records for the child table the one I would expect
