All,
I have written a very simple custom composite control that includes a
control of type System.Web.UI.WebControls.Table.
The control renders fine in run time, but for some reason, it does not
render properly in design time.
In design time it renders something like this:

I have a custom control that builds what we refer to as "Formlets"
around some content in a page. These are basically content "wrapper"
sections that are tables that have a colored header and provide an
open TD with a DIV in it for the content of this formlet. (The DIV is
for DHTML to hide and show the content)
I've created a web page showing step by step the two problems I'm
encountering. This problem is much easier to see than it...

Hi,
I've created a composite custom web control and a ControlDesigner
descendant to render the control a design time.
The child controls are public properties of composite control and as such
the child controls appear in the property inspector as sub-properties of
the main control and can be manipulated as normal at design time. If any of
the properties of the parent (main) control are changed at design time the
composite control is...

I have included below virtually all the code to a control I'm trying to
build. My issue is that an array list property in my control does not get
persisted properly to the aspx page code in design time. If I type the code
in the aspx manually it does get parsed correctly though.
This is an example of the aspx code that gets parsed correctly. For some
reason, if I changed update the Tab property of the control through the GUI
at design...

Folks,
I am implementing a WebUserControl, which will have its own custom event
StateChanged. Now, I want to add this event to the Events tab in the control
properties, so that the users of my control can set the event handler from
this tab. However, I can't see my custom StateChanged event over there and I
don't know what is the reason. Setting BrowsableAttribute to the public
event property doesn't solve the problem. Any other ideas?

I have created a control and added a few properties. One of these is an
array of DateTime objects, looking like this:
public DateTime MyDates
{
get { return theDate;}
set {theDate = value;}

Hi All, does anyone know how to add TabPages of ones own classes at design time ? ideally when adding a new TabControl it would
contain tab pages of my own classes, I know you can achieve this with ListView columns so it should be doable, thanks

Hello
i have made a custom control. i have placed a panel on it. I want this
panel to behave just like the normal panel. The problem i was having is
that the panel on my custom control doesnt accept other controls. The
control i drag drop on it becomes the child of my custom control's
parent form and not the child of my custom control. Then i added this
line
""
before my custom control class (i dont know what this line does). Now

Has anyone else noticed that the design-time support for databinding in custom controls in ASPNET2 sucks? At least for GridViews? So
far I've spent going on two days trying to get the following simple statements to actually generate something at design-time:
gridView = new GridView();
gridView.AutoGenerateColumns = true;
gridView.DataSource = ;
gridView.DataBind();
I have tried everything I could think of, or read about in four books...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
