How to show Tooltip for UserControl

Hi All,
I have developed my own user control and created custom mouse enter event.
I need to show ToolTip on mouse enter event.
I have written following code for that, but it doesn't show ToolTip.

Private Sub MyControl_Mouse Enter()
Dim myToolTip as New ToolTip()
myToolTip.SetTo olTip(myControl ,"Hello")
End Sub

I checked above by using,

msgbox (myToolTip.GetT oolTip(myContro l))

It gives "Hello" message box, but why above code doesn't show the ToolTip?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I have an application that has several UserControls, and I can't seem to get ToolTips to work with them. The ToolTips work fine with Windows Controls, so I know I have them set up properly. The ToolTip control exists in the main form, and I have no reference to a ToolTip control inside the actual UserControl. Is there supposed to be something I do in the UserControl to enable it to work with ToolTips? I suppose that putting a ToolTip in...

I am making a UserControl that is entirely taken up by Labels. I have found a way to pass the Click even to the outside (I have the same handler for each label.click and that raises a this.OnClick(e); ) How do I do this with whatever mystery is the ToolTip component? Since the UserControl surface is not exposed, it will never send the ToolTip whatever it needs to fire. I've tried the OnMouseHover() I've tried looking for the ToolTip...

I have an application where some forms have many (say 100) UserControls on them (each of which contain a label, an image, and a data entry control), and each UserControl has a ToolTip provider (although really we don't assign ToolTips to most of the controls), and then the UserControl exposes a ToolTipText property which sets the same ToolTip for all 3 contained controls. It would be possible to have one ToolTip provider on the form...

I initally posted this July 29, 05 and did not get any replies: I have a Windows Forms UserControl that runs in a thick client. I am now deploying it within an IE web page. Everything works fine, including events, except for one feature. As the mouse is moved across the control, a System.Windows.Forms.Tooltip is used within the control to display information to the user about what is under the mouse. It works fine in the thick client but...

I'm using ToolTip.Show(x,y,..) to show my balloon-style tooltip at a specified coordinate. Most of the time it works fine and the "tip" of the balloon points exactly to my specified (x,y) coordinates. But if the (x,y) coordinates are too far to the right, then the "tip" of the balloon now points to some spurious coordinate that's unrelated to my (x,y). Why? How can I stop this? How can I make the balloon's tip point exactly where I...

How can I show a tooltip programmatically? I want to make it appear over a particular control at the specific time I choose, and not rely on the user's mouse movements. I don't mind using some Windows API call for this, if somebody can explain the parameters. Eq.

Hi, Using VB.NET 2.0, Windows Forms. I want the ToolTip to be shown on every TextBox, ComboBox and DataGridView continuously, and show the contence of these controls. Is there a way to add the ToolTip automaticly for all these controls, without having to link it the whole time to them for every new Control I put on my Forms? And regarding the DataGridView: The ToolTip doesn't show the whole value of every Cell, but cuts it off when...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
