VB.Net Resource Kit won't open samples

I've just installed the VB.Net resource kit. I can navigate through most of
it, but when I attempt to open any link that leads to a sample project or
sample code, it doesn't respond. There's no error message. The config is
XP/SP2 with VS.Net 2003 EA and VS6SP5.

What do you mean by does not respond exactly, can you be more precise. BTW,
did you use the installer, or did you copy the files from the CD in which
case they may need the read-only bit set to false.

From the opening page, I select the enter link at the bottom. Using the
navigation bar, I switch to web applications. I click code samples, and then
select a category. There's a list of projects; the title of each is a link.
I click a link, it changes color, and the MSIE icon animates for a moment.
Then nothing. Click it again, nothing happens at all. All project title
links in all pages seem to behave this way.

I used ISOBuster to open the download to a temporary directory, and then ran
its setup from there. I allowed it to use all its default settings, the
content seems to be in c:\program files\visual basic .net resource kit. I
checked a few .sln and .vbproj files at random, and they weren't read-only.

I can use VS and navigate to these projects and open them, however that's
much less convenient than browsing their descriptions and then opening the
one I want directly from the catalog.

Could there be some setting in IIS (perhaps some permission) that would
cause this behavior?

either the isapi filter perhaps or the security settings on your browser

FWIW, I am having the same problem.

I assumed it was something with XP SP2, but haven't really investigated
further.

You are saying that it worked correctly before SP2? I didn't install the RK
until after I had already installed SP2, so that could well be the cause.

I was afraid someone might assume that. My bad. I did not have it installed

Several attributes and interface methods I'm using refer to resources (such as strings or icons) by a numeric ID. This was the only way to refer to resources in unmanaged code (C++, for example), but I'm writing in C# now, and it seems that resources are named with string identifiers. Visual Studio doesn't seem to like resource names such as "100", so I'm wondering how this could work. Is it absolutely necessary for me to have a...

For example, right know I am working on an example which is supposed to be located in "install_folder\Practices\Mod02\Mod02_02\Starter". I can't find a folder called "Starter" anywhere on my hard drive. Thanks, Bob
