Next / Previous form to display records performance

vs 2002 - vb - access 2002 - xp - web forms

I want to display records, one at a time.
I have about 25 fields to display.
I've created SQL and retrieved records.
I placed data in 25 separate dropdown list. (made them invisible on form)
each time they pick next I add 1 and do something like this for each field
CurrentRecord += 1
(test for upper bounds and less then 0)
ddName.selected index = CurrentRecord
labelName.text = ddName.selected item.text

(repeat 25 times for each field)

Very slow to display page.

which is best
the above
or
Stuffing all data into session variables
or
retrieve the entire list from DB each time. and just keep CurrentRecord in
session variable.

Thanks
Tony

Hello, I'm working on a search application for my website. The website contains a lot of pictures, and a search should return clickable thumbnails. No problems there. My problem started when I wanted to build in NEXT and PREVIOUS buttons, so that you only get 5 or 10 or 20 (I haven't made up my mind yet) thumbnails at a time. I use a SQL LIMIT statement to achieve that. After displaying the first 5 pictures I would like to see the next 5,...

I would like to display a listing of files on a web page as follows: If there is only one file: display the section name and then display the current file. If there is more than one file (for the first page): display the section name, the current file and a few archive files. If there is more than a page full (for each additional page): display the section name, and the next set of archive files.

Hi All, I would like some advice on Next / Previous record buttons. I have a main form for the client, and a continuous subform listing client transactions. If I open one of these transactions ( dblclick ) in say 'frmtransaction', I would like to scroll forward and backward through the transactions as they appear on the continuous subform without actually having to close 'frmtransaction' and go back to the subform.

Greetings. I have a Mainform with a subform. The Mainform has single record format and subform has continuous form format. When the Mainform opens, I force allowadditions and allowedits to FALSE (for both the Mainform and Subform). No problem there. However, when I click on the navigation control of the subform to move to the next record in the subform, the AllowAdditions and AllowEdits changes to TRUE. Not good. I set...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
