mantain session in webservices with windows forms

Hello.
I have an applicattion with visual basic.net, which uses windows forms.
How can I mantain a session in different calls to the same webservice?
(which uses some database access). The goal is not to open a database
session each time, mantanining the same OdbcConnection. If I put the
OdbcConnection (or just a Integer variable) like this:
Session("counte r") = 1
the webservice forgets the variable "counter" in next call to it.
Thanks.

I know this issue has been brought up many times, but I have tried many of the solutions to no avail. I wanted to give my specific case to see if someone could be of any help. We are using the sessionstate inproc mode and users are randomly losing their session. I do not believe it is happening across all users at one time. It seems to happen to different users at different times, but I am only going off heresay. The aspnet worker...

My background is web based. I am attempting to write a Windows application and I am finding some simple things difficult. Currently I am trying to find out how to store information session wide. In the web you have session state and you can add variables or objects to it. They remain in existance until the session ends. How could I do that for a windows forms application? For example: a modal form is launched to log in, I do a...

What would be the best way for storing some session information during ProcessMessage method call?

I have a .net webservice (located in a different machine) that is called twice from a windows form .net application. The ws works fine if I called only one call, but failed if I called them both, one after another. Hi Folks. I have an issue I need some help with if thats OK. I am running Framework 2.0 using Windows Integrated Security. For most of the application we manage session timeouts without the user knowing anything about it by ensuring all the essential objects ( only a few ) are in place during session start. For performance, there are some parts of the application which use static

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
