Hi,
I have 4 columns in my sql database table. I added a data adapter , data set
& a data grid to view this information. But the data grid is displaying those
4 columns TWICE , i.e in the data grid i see 8 columns.
In case this is useful, the primary key is Serial no. which is an identity
....i.e everytime a row is added to the database, it increments by1. Also,
when i configured the data adapter, it couldnt Generate the UPDATE &...

I have an app I need a hierachical structure for. There seem to be 3 ways of
implementing this, as far as I can see:
1. Adjacency list.
Pros - intuitive and relatively simple
Cons - not easily accesible via standard SQL, needs recusive queries to
crawl up or down the structure. I'll be doing this in Jet or perhaps MS SQL
Server, so Oracle's Connect by is out.
2. Nested Sets a la Joe Celko's BOM.

When I display data to a Windows datagrid I usually fill the underlying
table (in another class) and then, once it contains all the data, I attach
it to the grid. But there are some processes that involve large amounts of
data so the user won't be able to see anything in the grid until after the
table's already filled up (usually 40-60 secs with these large processes).

suspect there might not be a good answer to this one. Using vb.net I have a

Now the repeater is populated from a simple query that takes no time to

I need to display records with lots of fields. When placed in a grid, a row
of data will scroll off the screen. Not exactly what I'm looking for. I've
also used a datalist, which allows multiple lines for a single row of data
(yes! no horizontal scrolling!), but columns do not line up across
listitems/data rows (very ugly & distracting - maybe there's some way to get
