Hi, I have read the Microsoft Product Feature Comparisons page many times over (http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/products/compare/default.aspx), as well as Gregory's blog on the subject (http://spaces.msn.com/members/gregorybeamer/Blog/cns!1ptsyfBgfiUmsaQCul95SOyg!141.entry) however some things are still unclear to me. Hi I installed .NET 2005 express edition, and am about to unnistall it again because it can't seem to be able to even insert a resource file into a project. Can anyone tell me is this right? Should it be able to? I know it's express edition, and therefore limited functionality, but surely resources are quite fundamental? Also, once it's downloaded, is there any way of getting access to the fully downloaded file incase you want to...

Anyone know of a list of features lacking in Web Developer 2005 Express that are already in VS.NET 2003? I realize they take a slightly different approach due to the new ASP.NET 2.0, but I'm trying to envision the compelling reasons why people will want to buy VS.NET 2005 with the availability of Web Developer 2005 Express. I tend to avoid any and all wizards, so I was just happy to see that Intellisense was included. Thanks in...

I have been using VS C++.NET 2005 Express as our company waits for the MSDN full version to arrive. It is a pretty amazing free tool! My question is I'd like to also do some VS C#.NET stuff too. So I'd like to download VS C#.NET 2005 Express while we are waiting as well. Problem is, although I've never tried, it says I have to uninstall all versions of 2005 before I can download C#.NET 2005 Express. So do I have to uninstall VS C++.NET...

Hello, all, I started out thinking my problems were elsewhere but as I have worked through this I have isolated my problem, currently, as a difference between MSDE and SQL Express 2005 (I'll just call it Express for simplicity). I have, to try to simplify things, put the exact same DB on two systems, one running MSDE and one running Express. Both have 2 Ghz processors (one Intel, one AMD), both have a decent amount of RAM (Intel system...

Hi everyone. I've been trying to move some small applications written in vb.net 2003 to vb.net 2005 express just for testing purposes. I have noticed so far that the applications seem to run much slower in the 2005 version. Especially when it comes to nested loops. I haven't done much testing so it might just be this one computer but I was curious to know if anyone else has experienced these kind of problems when moving to the 2005...

Hi there, We have recently deployed a couple of new SQL 2005 x64 servers in our hosting environment. We have previously used SQL 2000. I need to start rolling out the new client tools so our developers can start working on them. I tried to copy the sql tools msi off the installation CD and install it on the developers machine but it will not install on them as the workstations are 32bit and the server is x64.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
