Moving a web site to another machine

Greetings all,

I've written a very simple web site using vb.net.

I want to move the site to another machine.

I've set up IIS on the other machine and installed the .NET framework.

I've copied the files from C:\Inetpub\wwwr oot\Application Directory to the
same directory on the other machine.

However, I double click on the webform1.aspx file and the web page doesn't
appear as it does on the original machine.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Edward.

In IIS, did you configure the Application Directory as an application?

No , I just copied the directory from the other computer
(ie.C:\Inetpub\ wwwroot\Applica tionDirectory) into the new computer.

I am in the process of moving a site from one hosting company to another. This site is fairly large, with hundreds of asp files, each with multiple "include" statements. The new host has a different webspace folder structure for it's clients than the old host. At the moment, this is forcing me to have to append all the paths for all the include statements (not to mention all the other path-related code) to make things work. Example:

Hi, I am currently supporting a website that is a mix of asp and aspx pages. In one scenario I redirect the user from an asp page, to an aspx page, and then back to the asp page. When I return to the asp page, I find that *sometimes* a new session has been created. (I.e., session.sessionid is different. Thus, I lose session state, etc.). The session timeout is the default of 20. What is odd, is that on one development machine (Windows...

In moving a ASP.NET site from a W2K IIS5 server to a new W2K3 IIS6 server, we are having trouble with what appears to be ASP.NET server side includes in the .shtml files. I did not set up the old server or code the site and have just been brought onto this project so I'm hoping someone out there with a tad more experience can help me. The code in the shtml file looks like this: <%@ Page language="c#" AutoEventWireup="false"...

Hi, I'm relatively new to postgres but I've managed to get an instance up and running and built a web site based on it. But I want to move the complete site to another host not in the same network. If I want to set the schema up on a new machine is it sufficient to simply copy the data folder (and sub folders) and then start the instance by pointing to that data folder? Otherwise is there an recognised dump file in the same way that...

I have been looking online for pointers, and read mixed things. I was hoping if I post direct questions here, I could get some solid answers. I work for a small company with less than 10 web developers. We have been using classic ASP for years. We do a lot of work with SQL Server, and moving from classic ASP to ASP.NET has been a bit confusing. We're not sure how to get started. Is there a good resource for people who are stuck in...

Hi all, I am no longer able to publish a web site project using Visual Studio 2005 Professional. I am publishing it to an FTP url, and this used to work just fine. I enter the username and password and select "passive mode" when publishing the site, like I have always done. Visual Studio deletes the existing files, but then doesn't write the new ones, though it tells me the operation was

I don't have much experience moving these types of site, but we're changing sites, and I've been asked to move the site to a new server. It's your typical setup Windows server, ASP.Net 2.0., a few SQL databases. Is there an easy/best way to go about this? Any insight would be most appreciated.

I have a site that is running on a SPS 2003 box and I intend to remove it from that box and off any sharepoint architecture. I currently receive the following error and I am inclined to think it is something to do with not being on the SPS box anymore where SPS would normally take control of permissions amongst other things. I saw something interesting about a grid pair puzzle problem that it looks like a machine when you find each that work out the way it does and say with all the others that work out the way they do together overlapping common pieces but say connected each working out as connected, but together as connected it's connected with the others connected. a whole machine where connected together is a condition of the machine together as...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
