I am building a utility application that uses much of the same functionality as already exists in the Windows Explorer. It would therefore make sense to use (if possible) the Windows Explorer as the base component for my application. Since some of the treeview functionality of Windows Explorer is used in the folder browse dialog I make the assumption that this functionality is possibly exposed for use by developers who require the type of...

Has anyone heard of this? From Windows explorer, it looks like a drive but
does not have a drive letter. It contains folders and files like any other
drives or folders. I think it's called Shell Namespace Extension but don't
have much info on it. Is there a way I can use a custom program (VB.NET, C#
or VB6) to access this locally and remotely? Thanks in advance for your
help.

Hi NG,
I had the Project idea to create a sort of virtual filesystem based on an
sql server.
Now i'm searching possibilities to implement it in windows explorer.
Is there any connector for the windows explorer ?
Alternatively it can be resolved by using a service who emulates a netdrive
to connect from windows explorer.

Dear Professionals,
I have recently been using the wonderful krypton toolkit and am trying
to use them in my small hobby application. I include this bit of info
as an aside really because i'm sure my question can be extrapolated to
the more general case, so here goes!
I have a box standard windows forms project. (File, New Project,
Windows Application, OK)

I am using VS2005 (vb) and I have a program that starts when Windows boots
up. Occasionally the icon that should appear in the system tray does not
show up. The program is still running in memory but the tray icon is not
there. If I start the program after Windows has booted up the icon shows
every time. I am assuming that the reason is due to the icon being created
before the system tray is loaded/running. I have used a timer with...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
