I have been making a client-server type of software mainly on Linux and
now I am trying to get it all work also on windows. However, I am having
slight problems running the program in Windows 2000. I have tried Python
2.2.3 and the latest release 2.3.1 (?)
If I have 2 clients and 1 server. The server listening some predefined
port and all the sending (in client and server) is done by creating a
new connection. On the beginning the client...

I am using the MySQL ODBC 3.51 driver to link three relatively small MySQL
tables to a Microsoft Access 2003 database. I am finding that the data from
the MySQL tables takes a hell of a long time to load making any kind linkage
with my Access data virtually useless.
I have the MySQL driver setup in as a USER DSN. The MySQL data is sitting
out on a server and the Access database is running locally. The network
connection is very...

Hello, my task is the following:
Input are tables with fields containing strings where the strings are
actually delimited lists. For example, one field could contain
'AB|CD|EF|GH'
I've written code that reads the input table and writes to an output
table with each delimited list parsed out. So if the delimited list
has 4 entries, 4 output records are created, corresponding to the one
input record.

Hi Everybody,
I have been looking at problems with my Windows Forms C# application
and it's little Jet 4 (Access) database for the last few days. The
Windows Forms app implements a facade and implementation, data
abstraction layer. But because each data adapter in the implementation
layer has a connection object that opens and closes as needed, I found
I got several errors from the Jet engine when there were simultaneous
connections to...

Okay, here is what's happening:
I have a reasonably fast laptop (1.4 GHz Mobile M, so comparable to 2.5GHz
P4) doing .net development.
Running Windows XP pro, SP2
IIS is installed and running fine
All SQL Servers I am referring to share a small (10 computers or so) LAN
with a 100MB Switch.
No other computers on the LAN exhibit this problem.

Hello Everyone,
I have a strange problem that I cannot seem to solve. I have two server running Windows 2003 MSSQL on one IIS on the other.
Out of the blue I have slow queries that cause asp script timeouts and I cannot figure it out. I have moved some test code to other sites on the server and still have these long delays.
I have tried dropping the tables, then the database entirely and restoring and still slow. I run the same code on...

number and it takes them to that inventory number on the contimuous

code:
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
Dim InventoryItem As String
InventoryItem = "'" & "TextBoxValue" & "'"

This is a new problem for me: I have some queries that open very
slowly in design view.
My benchmark query takes about 20 minutes to open in design view. That
same query takes about 20 minutes to open in datasheet view. As an
experiment, I deleted all rows in all tables; after that, the query
took only seconds to open in both design view and datasheet view. From
these facts, I conclude that Access is evaluating the query when I go
to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
