I'm new to Java programming. I'm developing a Servlet for tomcat which needs
an external configuration file. With external I mean a file (in XML format)
which
is customizable and not contained in my package. I don't want to hardcode
any
path and I would like to be independent of the application server (tomcat,
websphere,...).
Until now, I put the file in my package and open it using
obj.getClass.getResourceAsStream
but when I put my...

If I made changes to the configuration file when the executable is running,
it seems like the changes are not detected. I've found the same problem
with ConfigurationSettings.GetConfig and ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings.
Is there any way aound it?
Thanks,

Basically, how do I know that the release versions of all components are
being published?
The Build | Configuration Manager is confusing me a little in VS2005.
I have three projects in my solution:
1) web service website.
2) SOAP Extension Class Lib that compiles to a dll
3) WinForm application with a proxy to test the web service.

I know that we can add a single name value entry in app.config or
web.config in the configuration/configSettings/appSettings section like
so:
<add key="key" value="value" />
Question: I want to add a dictionary of name-value pairs. In other
words, instead of a single name-value, I want to add a name-value
collection in there. I could do this:

I have Windows service MyService, that reads some settings from
MyService.exe.config file via
ConfigurationManager.AppSettings. I tried to write
small WinForm frontend app(called it Manager.exe) to manage settings
of MyService, but have problems with accessing MyService.exe.config
from Manager app. I am getting this error:
"System.Configuration.ConfigurationElement.this'
is inaccessible due to its protection level"

Hi
I am looking for an editor that will allow a user to edit application
configuration easily and I have found below;
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/configeditor.aspx
Unfortunately it does not read my app.config (given below). Could someone
please give me a quick hint as to what can I do to fix this?

Hi all,
For some reasons, we've had to move away from the configuration files and
are now storing all the configuration parameters for our applications in a
SQL table. We have developped a library to manage the access to these
parameters and all our projects are now using this component. Our
applications vary can be web applications, web services, windows services,
even MS Office Addins.
Now here is the question that we are asking...

Hello,
I am receiving this error when trying to instantiate a webservice component.
I have 2 development machines, both are XP sp2 with VS 2008 installed. On
one machine, the code works fine. On the other machine I get the error upon
instantiating the service client. I add the reference by choosing Add
Service Reference from the project menu, and pointing to the remote wsdl
file. I can't seem to find what the difference between the two...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
