How to access Application.Use rAppDataRegistr y settings from a Windows service

Bob
I have a client app that writes a value to the registry (camera device ID).
I have used Application.Com monAppDataRegis try to write the value in my test
app.

How do I retrieve this data from a Windows service? Is the application
object accessible at all?

Hi Bob,

The MSDN said,
If the key does not exist, it is created in the following format:
LocalMachine\So ftware\ CompanyName\ ProductName\ ProductVersion
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...us/cpref/html/
frlrfsystemwind owsformsapplica tionclasscommon appdataregistry topic.asp

Provided the client app is WindowsApplicat ion18, the info will be stored in
the key path below.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\W indowsApplicati on18\WindowsApp lication18\1.0. 1392.32335
You may try to use the registrykey class to restrieve the data from the key
above.
e.g.
[Client app]
Application.Com monAppDataRegis try.SetValue("h ello","world")

[Windows Service]
Dim str As String
Dim lm As RegistryKey
lm = Registry.LocalM achine
Dim rkey As RegistryKey =
lm.OpenSubKey(" SOFTWARE\Window sApplication18\ WindowsApplicat ion18\1.0.1392. 3
2335")
str = CType(rkey.GetV alue("hello"), String)
rkey.Close()

Hey all - I'm having a really confusing problem concerning a web service. Right now, I have an application that needs to call a web service that does nothing but return "true" (this will obviously change once the program's fully built to actually do something, but for testing, it works). The only code I added to the service is below:

I'm using a third party hosting service. I presently have a Web Service on this hosting service's server that loads and executes a native mode DLL. I believe it also demonstrates that I have access to c:/documents and settings/xyz/aspnet/local settings/ ...

Hi all, We have a web application that uses web services for data access and retrieval. The web app and web services reside under IIS on the same server(WIN2003). The virtual directories have been set for windows authentication and both the ASP web application and the web services are using windows authentication with impersonation of the logged on user. We also set the web service credentials to CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
