Application class and assembly properties

Hi all,

I have a simple Form app and I am trying to use the
Application::Us erAppDataRegist ry object to persist UI settings to the
registry. But when I create the object like this:

RegistryKey * m_Registry = Application::Us erAppDataRegist ry;

the key that is created is missing the AssemblyCompany Attribute,
AssemblyProduct Attribute and AssemblyVersion Attribute that I have
specified in the assembly file like this:

[assembly:Assemb lyTitleAttribut e("")];
[assembly:Assemb lyDescriptionAt tribute("")];
[assembly:Assemb lyConfiguration Attribute("")];
[assembly:Assemb lyCompanyAttrib ute("My.Company ")];
[assembly:Assemb lyProductAttrib ute("My.Product ")];
[assembly:Assemb lyCopyrightAttr ibute("")];
[assembly:Assemb lyTrademarkAttr ibute("")];
[assembly:Assemb lyCultureAttrib ute("")];

In fact, no matter what I put in these assembly attributes, the
corresponding properties in the Application object are empty. So with
the above entries, doing this:

String * str = Application::Co mpanyName;

yeilds an empty string. So the obvious question is what am I doing
wrong?

Thanks,
Dave.

This has occurred in MC++, but since there is very little response on that NG, I am also reporting it here in the hope that someone can find me a workaround, and report it to MS. If a __value class with an event is put into an assembly and a __gc class in another assembly, which has an instance of the __value class as a data member, attempts to attach its own event handler to the __value class's event, everything compiles correctly but...

Hello all We are developing a large dotnet application, which includes ~ 120 assemblies. (total size of all binaries is ~ 20MB). Our application also references the following dotnet assemblies: System,System.XML, System.Windows.Forms, System.Drawing, System.Data, System.Design. We use dotnet framework 1.1 During initialization, the application scans a directory and loads the assemblies (using Assembly.LoadFrom). It then scans all...

Hi, I have an old problem which I couldn't solve so far. Now I have found a post in that group that gave me an idea, but I can not fully understand it. The problem is: I'm trying to use a Windows.Forms.UserControl in a COM environment, i.e. I want to host that control in a COM host. So far, so good, I can host it, but I can not reach the parent COM object from the control (Parent property is null :( ). I have stopped the control in the...

I'm starting an n-tier application with an ASP.NET 2.0 presentation layer, a business layer, a data access layer, and a SQL Server 2005 database, and I have a question. In the business and data access layers, should I use static methods? Or, should I code the classes so that they have to be instantiated? I've seen examples of both, and I'm not sure which is the "preferred" or "best" way. Thanks.

Hi, I posted this in wrong group, so just re-post here. There are two ways to create web-based application or web service, from VS start page, click on File and New, two options you can choose, one is Projects which leads you to create ASP.NET Web Application or ASP.NET Web Service Application. Another one is Web Site which leads you to create ASP.NET Web Site or ASP.NET Web Service. My question is what is the difference between these...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
