Active Directory Services cannot find the web server

Hello Everyone,
I am hoping someone could help me out with this.I am using Visual
Studio .NET 2003 to create a web application on a remote IIS 5.0
server using the File Share web access method. The problem is I get the
following two errors everytime I try to create the application:

Error 1:
The web was created successfully, but an error occured trying to
configure the application root of this web.Web projects may not
operate correctly without an application root. The returned error
was"Active Directory Services cannot find the web server.A possible
cause of this is an incompatibility between versions of Internet
Information Server(IIS) on the client and the server. The usual cause
for this error is creating web projects on a windows 2000 or newer
server from a windows NT 4.0 client.
You can manually configure the application using the Internet Services
Manager.

Error 2:
Unable to set the permissions on the 'bin' folder to restrict browse
access.Active Directory Services cannot find the web server.A possible
cause of this is an incompatibility between versions of Internet
Information Server(IIS) on the client and the server. The usual cause
for this error is creating web projects on a windows 2000 or newer
server from a windows NT 4.0 client.
You can manually configure the application using the Internet Services
Manager.

Now I have read the article related to these errors on microsoft at
this address:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=320451

And true to its word, the solution that the article suggests resolves
the above mentioned errors i.e. If I install IIS on the client
machine, the errors are eliminated. But, we don't want to install IIS on
all the client machines which will be used to create a web application
on the remote server. We feel there is a security issue with doing
this.Is there any way to get around the above mentioned errors without
having to install IIS on all the client machines? I would really
appreciate it if someone could help me out with this. Thanks in
advance,do reply.

Amol.

We have just installed a SQL Server 2000 (SP 3A) onto a computer that has Windows-2003 Server on it. Now, we cannot get access to that database server from other computers. Seem like this may be an issue with Active Directory. Our network consists of Windows-2000 Servers (SP 4) and Windows-2000 workstations and Windows-XP workstations. We also have SQL Server 2000 (SP2) in three Windows-2000 servers. All work fine. Recently, we get a...

I have forms based authentication working, using my Active Directory for authentication. I have a web page that creates a user in active directory. When I was using IIS authentication it worked fine, now it doesn't. I'm assuming it's running in the context of the IIS anonymous user. How can I get it to run as the user that logged in with the forms based authentication? --

Hey all, Working on revamping our Intranet here and making use of the LDPA, Active Directory, Directory Services, etc. that .Net provides. I am still fairly new on this subject, so the problem I have run into I am not sure how to fix, and really not sure what is causing it. Here's what is going on (test server - Windows 2003 Server): I have a page in a folder (under anonymous authentication in IIS6) that has a link on it that...

Hello, I'm hoping to find out if it is possible to connect within an ASP.NET application to Active Directory with the credentials of the person who accessed the ASP.NET application via IIS, using windows integrated authentication. I've tried using ADO, ADSI, and Directory Services, but I have yet to find a way to connect to active directory

My goal, somehow, is to populate a dropdownlist with all the user names in active directory. I don't even know where to begin, really. I added a reference to System.DirectoryServices so I could use the System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory namespace. I don't even know if this is the right way to go as I can't seem to find anything in that namespace that would help me query active directory for names. I can't use an LDAP query...

I am trying to create a simple AD search page where any of my co workers can input and name and get in return phone numbers. I don't need anything fancy, since most of the internal site has already been created using Microsoft expressions, and with the standard items in IIS. I know this question has been asked but every search through google has not been able to provide me with the coding I want to inject into the web site.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
