I haven't programmed in Java for awhile and forgot how to get this to work.
I have a program ListFiles developed in c:\java which lists every .JPG and
..GIF file in a folder. It works fine running from that folder. It takes 1
argument, the pathname, so a command could be "java ListFiles ."
But if I try to run it from another folder, using
"java c:\java\ListFiles ."

OK, I've been researching this problem and can't find a definitive answer
yet.
The situation is one that seems to have come up a few times to different
folks. I am writing an application that will function as a windows service
and will also present a GUI to the user. I don't want "Interact with
desktop"; I want the same exe to run as a normal non-interactive service
when started properly by the service control manager, or instead to run...

Hi,
Both the methods below open up a windows form called MasterForm. However, one works better than the other. Method 1 opens the form correctly but I don't have any reference to the instance of master form. Method 2 opens the form but when I right click on the Notify Icon I don't get the context menu that I should be seeing. I can interact with the main form window but I cannot interact with the NotifyIcon. Method 2 gives a object reference...

I have some classes that control file processing in c#. The files come
from a mainframe and may take some time for each to process. I use the
Threadpool to process multiple files at once. Each instance of the
file processor is spawned in its own AppDomain to isolate it (I'm using
a separate AppDomain for a valid reason, so this thread isn't to
discuss that). My process is a Windows service, but I can duplicate
this problem as a regular...

I've written a C program that I want to run inside an Gui wrapper that
I started to write in MFC. I have to select some files then kick off a
process running the C program. I have the initial dialog file
selection stuff written, but am not sure how to run the C program
inside a seperate thread. I'm using VS.NET 2003 and am trying to use
the Thread and Process objects, but am not sure if I can use that with
MFC. I can't compile the code...

Hey all,
Another convert to vb.net here. My vb6 program was an application
launcher that checked for previous instances of said programs and would
alert the user with a message box. I can't, for the life of me, figure
out how to do this in vb.net. Let's say notepad.exe (as an example) is
already running. My program tries to launch it again, but I need to
check if notepad.exe is already running before I launch it.
Does anyone have a...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
