Sharing A DataSet

Is there a way to share a datase across multiple forms in a project? I have
created a DataSet, using the Wizards, and bound several controls on my main
form. All works well. Now I would like to use the DataSet data with
controls on several Dialog forms in the same project. Is the a way to
make/create a "global" DataSet for all objects in the same project?

DataSets created by the wizard are declared as 'Friend' by default. You can
access them from other classes in your application. I think you will more
likely get an answer in this ng:

I have some class objects each in separate projects that belong to a solution. The projects reference one another within that solution. The 'main' function calls the other procedure/function (different projects) that perform all the database work and manipulations to return a dataset to the instantiating code. This solution works without error. I am trying to build another solution that will use those same projects. The build is...

Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to share a Dataset object on the main form of my C# App between other forms that I can bind other forms controls to this dataset (designer is not aware of a public member of the mdi parent form)? Or any better practice than sharing a dataset among forms? I need a centeral managable access to the database! thanks

Hi, I have a solution with multiple web services that share the same typed dataset. Each time I add a reference to a web service to a client application it creates a new web refrence class that includes an imported version of the XSD for the typed dataset. Each web service reference then has its own typed data set class . Even though the dataset is the same each web service reference refers to it via a different namespace. How do I get...

I just realized that if two (or more) controls use the same datasource, the datasource.Select() will fire for each control. Is there no way to get around this? Thanks. rb

Hi, I really hope someone can help me out here. In relation to this thread ( http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread349557.html ) I'm having a similar issue and getting nowhere fast! In a nutshell I have a MDI Container which can load up several forms. Upon loading of a form, I want this form to either access or load a dataset and populate controls that have been bound to various fields of the dataset.

I have an application that loops through a dataset and retrieves / updates information in rows that meet certain criteria. When the end user clicks a button, the dataset is then merged with the database. I would like to make the merge process run in the background so that no user interaction is required. I can make the background thread run and update the dataset just fine. My questions are, can 2 threads loop through a dataset at the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
