I am trying to populate a combobox with a lisy of items. I want the 1st item
to be "Make a Selection" and the following items will be names from a table
in my DB (See code below).
When I run the project, the combox box initially displays an empty
selection. When I click on the drop down arrow I see the "Make a Selection"
followed by the other choices.
How can I move everything up so that the "Make a Selection" is the default
value in...

Using .Net CF, i have created a 2 dimension ArrayList, and "binded" this list
to a ComboBox control using the "DataSource" property. I have set the
DisplaySource and ValueMember properties as well. The control populates well,
both the display values, and selected values.
However, when i try to "set" the SelectedValue or SelectedIndex properties,
nothing happens.... The default blank value in the ComboBox is always
selected. My code is:

Outside of building a custom ActiveX control that would need to run on the
user's machine and have security attributes set to allow such, does anyone
have any code that will allow a combobox to display a tree of items? I could
display a tree control, but that takes a lot of space on the page. I have
seen comboboxes in non-web apps uses such a thing. I want to be able to
display a tree in a compact fashion. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hello All,
I have a combo-box that contains three items added at design time. When I
try to set the SelectedText property at run-time based on a value from a
SqlDataReader, the SelectedText is not set, but if I step through the code,
the SelectedText gets set. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Using VB.Net 2003
Thanks,

Everyone misses the point on this - what we need is a combobox autocomplete
that is a dropdownlist only. When in dropdown mode, you can enter text -
making that autocomplete is trivial. But when you look at combobox controls
from years ago, they would autocomplete in dropdownlist mode. And if you
look at intellisense, this is exactly what happens, so obviously the .net
framework can do it.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a minor, but somewhat frustrating, problem. In a program
I'm working on, I've got a tabcontrol that contains several other
controls, a few of which are comboboxes. In the IDE, one of the
comboboxes cannot be selected by clicking on it. If I click on
this combobox, the tabcontrol itself is selected. I can select
the combobox by choosing it from the list of controls in the
Properties window or by dragging a rectangle around it.

Can I use a bound ComboBox for both browsing and editing?
I'm working on a small, standalone database application using Visual
C#.NET 2003 and an Access data file.
In order to keep the number of different screens down to a minimum,
I'm trying to use the same Windows Forms for both browsing and for
updating. This works fine for TextBoxes, but I'm running into
problems with my DropDownLists (ComboBoxes).

Lookup tab within table design mode is the following:
Display Control Combo Box
Row Source Type Table/Query
Row Source SELECT .LastName, .FirstName, .EmployeeNumber FROM ;
Bound Column 3
Column Count 3
Column Heads Yes
Column Widths 1";1";1"

It doesn't seem to make a difference in the way I use the variable.
Another problem I have.
I load three variables with 3 values each which then get loaded into a
datatable with 3 columns. This datatable is then the datasource from a
combobox. This works fine until I choose another index of the combobox and

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
