I know all about Application.EnableVisualStyles (for .NET 1.1 only) and using a manifest, but neither method seems to work when the form is declared in a class DLL, unless the calling executable enables the visual style. The problem is that I have no control over the calling executable since I am making a shell namespace extension. In my case the calling executable is actually Windows File Explorer. As a test, I did create a manifest...

Hi, I'm a DB newbie and I've been having issues trying to print the record I am viewing in a form to a report. I have looked in groups all over and they all say to try basically the same thing but I can't get it to work. This is the latest code I've tried: Private Sub NewRepairPrintPreview_Click()

I have a vb.net win form where I want to output some text to a printer. Everything works fine when printing to my laser or inkjet printers. However when I print to the Acrobat PDFWriter printer driver, I get correct formatting but the text is gibberish. I am using ev.Graphics.DrawString(line, printFont, Brushes.Black, leftMargin, yPos, New StringFormat) , where line is the text that I wish to print on each line, to print the text. ...

I'm trying to use system.diagnostics.process to print a pdf from ASP.NET 2.0 webservice (using a network printer). It works fine in an executable, but fails in asp.net. What happens is that the executable runs & Acrobat gets launched with no exceptions thrown, but the process is running under the ASPNET account & the printing never takes place. I found out that the ASPNET account, by design, is prohibited from doing certain things, so I ...

I have some sample code that uses the print dialog, print preview and a print direct options. If I select print preview and then click the printer icon from that, the document prints. If I select the print directly option, it also prints right away to the defauilt printer. However, if I use the printer dialog control to print and I click 'OK' to actually print the document - nothing happens. The job does not even go into the print...

Hello, I have written a VB program (VB 6.0) that is basically a GUI for the user to select from various buttons to run other executable files (which I wrote in Perl). When the Perl executable is complete it writes the results to MS Excel. So back to the VB GUI, I have a second form (Form2) where the user can go and select one of the excel reports and open it to view. I’ve written the code in VB so that when the user initially clicks the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
