Is it possible? In the parent process, I have a socket that binds,
listens and then accepts new connections (which creates new sockets in
the process). I want to be able to pass some of these new sockets to
a spawned process. Is it possible, and if so how?
Any help is much appreciated!!

Is it the listener process, or some other Oracle process. Also, on a UNIX
system, when you do "ps -ef" to see your processes, the PPID points back to
a process named "init". Why does the PPID not point to some other process
like, for example, the listener, or PMON, or whoever spawned it.
thanks,
Mike

Dear all,
I have an application which is suppose to start another executable process.
As soon as that process is running, I need to retrive its handle. The
problem of the particular process I am starting is that it has a welcome
window first which gets displayed and then the real windows after a while,in
other words it means that the process name is the same, but the handle I need
to retrive is the one from the final window and not the...

Hi guys
I have a time critical process, running on a worker thread. By "time
critical", I mean that certain parts of the process must be completed in a
specific time frame. The time when the process starts is not especially
important, but it must be complete within a small number of seconds.
The operations I am performing do not take a long time (hundreds of
milliseconds), but as each part of the process is complete, my worker thread...

Hi,
Can I start an external process from the Web Service?
I'm using a code, compiler keeps silence, compiles ok and starts the
project. When I trace in Debugger it doesn't start an external process.
That's strange for me. I understand that it should be a new shell, but why I
can't start it? Is it need to have a Windows application to start an
external process? I created a very long batch files and a complicated
script to work with...

I would like to start a process from C# code as another user. The C# code is executed as the ASPNET user because it relies in a Web Page class, and I would like that the process will run as another user to gain the required rights for execution (the external process needs to create a mailbox in Exchange, so it needs to be run as an Exchange Full Administrator-powered user).
For the moment, I have tries using the Start() static method of the...

Hi All,
I am spawning a process from a service. The spawned process hungs for
various reasons, (corrupted data, deadlock). I am expecting the process has
to complete the task with in the expected time limit, if it exceeds the
limit I want to terminate the process (no mercy or graceful, just terminate
the process).
The spawnng of the process, counting the time and termination of process all
done in C++. Some time I am not able to...

Does anyone know why using System.Diagnostics.Process to "wrap" a console
application does not always transmit the I/O, depending on what processes
you're trying to "consume"? PowerShell, for example, does not seem to
process any I/O through the Process object.
I know that in the case of PowerShell there are better ways to "wrap" the
console by directly interfacing with the assemblies of
System.Management.Automation or some similarly...

There is a process A that launches process B as a COM object.
If the User tries to end process A, process B should also end. But vice
versa is not true. Process A can run independant of process. It is not
possible for a user to know process B is launched by process A.
In the destructor of Process A, there is a code to close process B. During
normal closing of process A, process B also gets closed. In certain
situations this is not...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
