Database design for recruitment company

147 New Member
Hello

I am designing a database to hold client details for a recruitment company.

All the data will be uploaded via a website

I will need the following information in 1 table

UniqueID - Name - ContractType - JobType

Please note, ContractType (whether they want to work perm. or temp.) and JobType (such as what industry(ies) they want to work in) can have multiple options.

What is the best way to approach this? Should I split this into 3 tables (one for personal information, one for ContractType and one for JobType) or should I try to force it all into one (although this will be a nightmare as I don't know how many job types will be offered)?

Ultimately, I want to display results for each person on my website so don't want to open mulitiple connections for each database (unless that is the best way forward)

Your question is more of a database design fundamentals, not specific to SQL Server.

Try to start from here.

Good Luck!!!

Hi I'm currently having to design a database for a recruitment agency that's just started up and have one area where I'm a little unsure where to go. Basically I've implemented the 'standard' Customer, Contacts tables linked on CustomerID, and also have CallRecords (for phone calls etc made to contacts) Linked on ContactID.

A recent change in the user interface of one of the tech forums I frequent prompted furious debates in the areas of functionality versus look'n'feel of professional applications. This has made me wonder: how much "decor" should I put into my database? I'd like to see what the general opinion is. I understand that putting in Picture Frames...

Hello all, I have one chance to get this right, as I'm nearing a release of a program. I've looked at the database settings, and so far, have set the following: * Unchecked 'Enable design changes for tables in datasheet view' * Unchecked 'Check for truncated number fields' (I would prefer the user NOT see #### in fields or columns that...

Ok, I'm looking for expert advice on this one. I have a database which keeps going into read_only mode. Sometimes it goes into read_only / single user mode. Once it was taken offline completely. This seemingly happens randomly. Out of all of the database I have worked with, this has happened on 3 of them - several times randomly to each. All...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention.
