Uploading SQL Server database to ISP

Ian
I have created a SQL Server database in tandem with an ASP website.
My ISP (Onyx) has created a SQL account for me but have given little
or no instruction on how to upload my database. Initially they gave me
a username and password but no server or database name. When pushed,
they told me to use the domain name for the server (i.e.
www.mydomain.co.uk) but I am unable to pursuade SQL Enterprise Manager
to find it, even when I try the IP address.

1. Is this usual for ISPs to be lacking in providing sufficient
support?
2. Can anybody point my in the direction of some step-by-step
instructions for me to try?
3. Help, please, anyone, its driving me crazy because the support
staff are playing dumb!

I have a web application using vb.net and sql server 2000 in which I generate templates for documents by using the database to fill certain fields with an XSLT file to generate RTF for display on the client's browser (IE 6 only). I want to have the ability for the user to edit the displayed template then save by directly uploading to sql server as a BLOB. Currently I'm having the user first save the edited rtf file on their C drive...

Hi, I am facing a different problem in my application. In that I am uploading a folder that contain only images. Everything was done and was working fine too. When I executed the application using the localhost it works fine. But when my machine acts as a client and executes the application from another machine (considered as the server) it is telling that the folder is not found, even if the folder is present in the client machine. The...

Hello Forum, I would appreciate it if you could recommend settings to use auto-vacuum in my version 7.4 database. I am uploading several thousands records in the database at a rate of ~1 second per record (the data is uploading from a different server). I have noticed that the performance of the uploading is improved if I vacuum the database every so often so I decided to take advantage of auto-vacuuming to maintain the best...

I have an asp.net application that works with a SQL server database on server No. 1 but I want to upload files for storage to Server No. 2 that is accessible only from the Internet. If the file storage was on server No. 1, I would specify a physical file path (ChosenDirectory) for storage of the uploaded file but in my case I need to specify a virtual path like http://server2/folder1/. I'm trying to use server.mappath to convert the...

You may be wondering why you would want to put your files “into” the database, rather than just onto the file-system. Well, most of the time, you wouldn’t. In situations where your PHP application needs to store entire files, the preferred method is to save the file onto the server’s file-system, and store the physical location of the file in your database. This is generally considered to be the easiest and fastest way to store files. ...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
