You should be able to use the latest version of MDAC - there's a link from
this page:

ODBC comes with MDAC that comes with Windows, so you don't need to install
anything - if you are on a Windows box, that is. (And it's a decently
modern version of Windows. Windows 95 is not likely to have any MDAC.)

I have developed a VB application that uses Oracle 8i database for backend. The database server is on the local network. From my development machine, the application connects (via ODBC) to the database successfully. The problem is that I want to install this application on several Windows 2000 client machines that do not have Oracle client installed (hence missing all the ODBC connectivity support files/drivers). What is the minimum...

Hello, I am going nuts. I am trying to connect to my local ORACLE instance using ODBC. It used to work few weeks ago, but it fails now. Connection with: - SQL*plus: connection works! - DataDirect 5.0 Oracle Wire protocol (3rd party ODBC driver): connection works when I hit the driver's "test connection"

Hi, On one side, I have a Sybase 12.5 32 bits Server running on AIX 5.1 (maintenance level 3). On the other, I've got W2000 5.00.2195 (SP2) with SQL Server Standard Edition, Product Version 8.00.534 (SP2), having installed MDAC 2.6. I connect to the Sybase 12.5 database using Merant ASE ODBC driver for Sybase 12.5, and using the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server that comes with this SQLServer version.

I have noticed something disturbing when retrieving datasets over a relatively slow line (multiple T1). I am looking at about 25 seconds to retrieve 500 rows via a php-odbc link. This same select from the cli is for all intents practicaly instantaneous. After much research I discovered that PHP by default uses a dynamic cursor type which can be quite a bit slower than a forward only cursor. BTW I have been searching forward only/read...

Any way to avoid having to manually enter my user name & password for the Oracle login box? I normally run a query on an attached Oracle table and have to enter the un/pw before the query will run. There's no place to enter this information in. Later, if I run subsequent queries on the table in question, I don't need to enter un/pw again. I can leave my PC on 24x7, but that's not really a solution. I need to know if I can log in to the...

Hi: I am developing an application using FoxPro 2.x tables. My client has AccessXP. AccessXP uses Visual Foxpro ODBC to connect to tables. It does not accept the ISAM Foxpro driver used in A97. I have a problem that when I link to the tables on the client machine AccessXP does not recognize boolean values in the FoxPro tables. I assume this is due to the ODBC driver. I'd like to test this out on my development machine. I...

Up until now, I've been working with V& DB2 UDB databases, using Embarcadero DBArtisan as my GUI tool. I also have other tools that I use in my day-to-day job so running directly on the server via the CLP is not a viable option. I've just had a number of V8 DB2 UDB databases added to my task list. Of course #1, the old V7 DB2 ODBC client software doesn't connect to V7 databases.

Can anyone give a quick description of the meaning of this message and what needs to be done to get a connection. I'm running DBArtisan with SQLServer 2000 client SP4 installed. I also get the same message with MS Enterprise Manager so this is coming out of the actual ODBC connection attempt. Thanks in advance!

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
