using osql to apply SPs in mutiple threads

using osql to apply SPs in mutiple threads
Hello,

I got a weird problem when I was using osql to apply scripts for msde
database in multiple threads mode. Sometime 2 sps were missing during
the whole apply process, sometime not, and seems like only those two
SPs met the problem. No error was appeared. Did anyone meet same
problem before? Or any possible solutions?

Thank you very much!

Maybe I have missed something, but what do you mean with "multiple
threads mode"?

Did you save any log files from your scripts? They might include something
interesting.

Oh, I meant "multiple threads mode" that I apply scripts using osql in
multiple threads at the same time to a msde database. In the output log
file, there is no error present, just a blank empty file.

P.S. In single thread applying script, there seems fine and never had
any problem happened.

Thank you very much

So you have split up the creation of stored procedures into several
scripts, and then you run these scripts in parallel by several invocations
of OSQL?

I don't see why this would cause any problems. Then again, I don't know
what's in those scripts.

Everybody, I've been doing a lot of on-line research and cannot find any reference to the exact problem I'm having. Let me preface this question with the fact that I'm coming from an Oracle background so my approach may not be the best way to tackle this. However, from the research I have done this approach seems reasonable. Also, I know about the undocumented procedure sp_MSforeachtable. That can give me a

hi, i had been removed the row counts and the column spaces... but i failed to remove the extra tabs between rows of data return from the osql output. how to detect the row delimiter? i noticed i can use bcp to have a more decent output file, but i don't want to do too much of file read-write. the programming enviroment is quite easy to "capture" the output from the comand prompt. secondary, char(252), 253, 254, 255 is not being read...

Hi, I have several big tables with rows more than 25 mil rows and to update/delete/insert data in these tables, it can take minutes. I use BULK Insert/DELETE/Update with osql. While I run one of these updates, if I try to select, it seems like both read and write get locked. Shouldn't SQL resolve this kind of locking? I left these to see if it gets resolved but both never returned.

Greetings All, I was hoping that someone out there has run into this issue before and can shed some light on it for me. I have a stored procedure that essentially does a mini ETL from a source OLTP DB to a the target Operational Data Store. This is still in development so both DB's reside on the same machine for convenience. The stored proc runs successfully from within Query analyzer and this holds true on the following platforms: XP...

I have a question. I am doing some work for someone and I have a batch file that they can run that will execute an OSQL line and a DTSRUN line. In both lines I run them using the /S /U /P switches and of course the /N or /i switch to tell it what to run. I have also tried replacing the /U /P switches with the /E switch. My problem is that as long as I specify the users password on the OSQL line (either with /U & /P or with /E & /P) it...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
