Calling user-defined function without 'dbo.' -- possible?

Is it possible to call a user-defined function without prefixing it
with 'dbo.' within a SELECT clause somehow? Just curious; it's not a
big issue but just a stylistic one for me.

Thanks!

You can do so with table function. However, you will have to specify an owner if
you're calling a scalar function. This is to allow sqlserver to distinguish an
udf as opposed to system function.

See if this helps:

create function dbo.scalar()
returns int
as
begin
return(select 123)
end
go
create function dbo.tb()
returns table
as
return(select top 5 * from Northwind..Orde rs)
go
select 'bad:'+cast(sca lar() as varchar)
go
select 'good:'+cast(db o.scalar() as varchar)
go
select * from tb()
go
select * from dbo.tb()
go
drop function dbo.tb,dbo.scal ar
go

Hi, I've got a question about whether there are any issues with directly calling attributes and/or methods of a threaded class instance. I wonder if someone could give me some advice on this. Generally, the documentation suggests that queues or similar constructs should be used for thread inter-process comms. I've had a lot of success in doing that (generally by passing in the queue during the __init__ of the thread) and I can see...

If calling an exe that accesses a database from an ASP page, does the Provider string to connect to the database from inside the exe need to have the user as being "IUSR..." or something since it is an anonymous Internet user accessing the ASP page? Any help/advice would be appreciated about potential problems/concerns when calling an exe from an ASP and then subsequently accessing a database from within that exe. Is there a problem...

Hi all, I have a C# user control (a little app I made to display video). In this code I am using a third party .dll, which is written in C++ (un-managed). I am tring to put this control on a web page and somehow the managed code is working OK but when it arrives the part of the code where it is calling the un-managed .dll it gets an exception (it can't find the dll). Is it a security problem? if it is what do I do to solve it? Is it a...

Hi gurus This problem is about calling Web services secured by Forms Authentication from Windows Forms user controls embedded in HTML. Using the object tag I’ve managed to include a Windows Forms user control in my HTML page (a .NET alternative to good old ActiveX). I’d like to use my control to call web-services instead of using behaviours (webservices.htc).

I would like to start a process from C# code as another user. The C# code is executed as the ASPNET user because it relies in a Web Page class, and I would like that the process will run as another user to gain the required rights for execution (the external process needs to create a mailbox in Exchange, so it needs to be run as an Exchange Full Administrator-powered user). For the moment, I have tries using the Start() static method of the...

I have a serious issue that seems to be intermittent with User.Identity.Name. In an environment where about 100+ users are logging on to a site with forms authentication, calling HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name returns the correctly logged on user. However, 10% of the time (I'm guessing under stress conditions or simulataneous requests), the wrong user info is being returned.

Hi, I am launching a modal dialog through the usual javascript (window.showmodaldialog). When the modal dialog is complete (ie user selects OK), the calling page then refreshes itself by setting the location.href of the window to be itself (ie the modal dialog changes a label on the calling page ). I can see that this causes the page load code of the calling page to execute in the code behind page. I can also see clearly that this updates...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
