I am setting up a web site and have questions about security. I would like
to use a forum script like phpBB, I would also like to use a CMS package
like Mambo, and a file sharing system. Since I will be storing confidential
content and the forums are for authorized users only...I'd like all of these
packages to use the same user authentication. Furthermore, I'd like to
allow users to be able to create an account but not access the files...

Hi gurus
This problem is about calling Web services secured by Forms Authentication
from Windows Forms user controls embedded in HTML.
Using the object tag I’ve managed to include a Windows Forms user control in
my HTML page (a .NET alternative to good old ActiveX).
I’d like to use my control to call web-services instead of using behaviours
(webservices.htc).

Hi all,
I've been searching the way to achieve the following task.
But no luck so far.
I have a web site(main site), which requires authentication. This
authentication is set at Windows directory level, so user will see the
pop up gray box in order to log in rather than custom web page. The
username and password are stored at active directory level, thus this is
the windows integrated security.

I am getting a strange result from some standard code.
Anyone got any ideas??
The puzzle
I have a web service calling System.Environment.UserName etc to return the
user name from the server. However, I get back NETWORK SERVICE or a null
string, rather then the user logged on to the client machine.
I have seperate server and client PC's, running XP
SP2 and Server 2003.
I have tried various server configs, - anonymous and not, with clear...

Hello,
I have created a web service name "TestWS" and published it to my SBS2003
server that uses IIS6 as a web server.
I have set NO anonymous access to TestWS virtual directory and I have
created a simple user account from the User template with the name of
"MyUser".
Problem is that I can't login to \TestWS\Service1.asmx with MyUser account
unless I give that user Administrator permission.

It appears that System.Random would provide an acceptable means through
which to generate a unique value used to identify multiple/concurrent
asynchronous tasks.
The usage of the value under consideration here is that it is supplied to
the AsyncOperationManager.CreateOperation(userSuppliedState) method... with
userSuppliedState being, more or less, a taskId.
In this case, the userSuppliedState {really taskId} is of the object type,...

There are tons of articles about custom role and provider membership,
but they just tear me apart and confuse :(
The situation is following: I use DB2, so I wrote custom role +
membership providers.
Membership provider seems to work. I use forms authentication, so as
articles say, I need to do some magic to be able to get roles for
current user, because microsoft mechanism works only for windows
authentication...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
