Purging records from subscriber/publisher database in merge replication

hd
Are there any standard approaches used to purge records from database
in merge replication senario ?
We are using merge replication between two sql server 2000 databases.
These databasess have differnt purging frequencies ( purging frequency
of subscriber database is 6 month where as that of publisher is year).
Is there anyway to purge data from subscriber and publisher without
getting these deletion reflected in replication ( basically deleting
record bypassing the replication).

Working with SQL Servers' transactional replication I am having a problem with the subscribers log growing to the size of the full database that I am replicating. Currently I have a 53 gig database that I have setup as my publisher. My distributor is on another server with the subscriber. I am also using the "sync with backup" DB option. I have log jobs running every five minutes on the publisher and the distributor. My snapshot agent is...

I tried setting up a Merge Replication between a MSDE (Pull Subscription) and Sql Server 2000 (Publisher) and got the following error: The process could not enumerate changes at the 'Subscriber'. Then I created another subscription, but this time, a PUSH, and this time I got the error "The process could not connect to Subsciber". I tried creating a second PULL Subscription, but the error I got was:

Greetings All, I was hoping that a replication sage might be able to answer a question for me. I want to have one subscriber subscribing to N publishers. I essentially have a company that has a main headquarters and three satellite offices. I want each of the satellite offices to push their data up to the master database. From what I have read it seems like this should not be a problem. Some questions that come to mind are: ...

I have taken over a transactional replication setup that is being used for fault tolerance (I know, I know...). The scenario I am concerned with is where the publisher goes down due to failure, so we need to point our application at the subscriber and start updating the data there. We are not using the immediate updating option. How do I go about re-syncing the publisher with the data that been added to, or changed on the subscriber,...

Hi, I am using Merge Replication for synchronizing a bunch of laptops running MSDE with a central SQL Server 2000 production server. This database is used by an application that needs to know which records have not yet been replicated, at any givem time. Here's a simple scenario:

I orginally posted this to microsoft.public.sqlserver.ce but had not received any responses. I have a CF.NET application (C#) with a SqlCE database. We had originally planned to use SQL Authentication to replicate with the publication and indeed had SQL Authentication working flawlessly. Then our client asked us to use Windows Authentication instead. For incremental changes, Windows authentication works fine. When trying to do the...

Hi All, I have a table with a column DeletedDate which stores a logical delete of a record. I need to set up transactional replication for reporting purposes that this deleted records should not be replicated to the subscriber. That is, if i see a value on the DeletedDate, I don't want that record to be picked up for replication.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
