I changed from Access97 to AccessXP and I have immense performance
problems.
Details:
- Access XP MDB with Jet 4.0 ( no ADP-Project )
- Linked Tables to SQL-Server 2000 over ODBC
I used the SQL Profile to watch the T-SQL-Command which Access ( who
creates the commands?) creates and noticed:

Afternoon all,
Apologies for cross-posting but as my query covers both Access and SQL
Server I thought I'd send it both!
I have inherited a project to migrate a fairly complex series of
Access databases into a single proper SQL database with a web front
end.
Its quite a nasty job as people are working on a variety of data sets

I'm in the process of migrating a lot of data (millions of rows, 4GB+
of data) from an older SQL Server 7.0 database to a new SQL Server
2000 machine.
Time is not of the essence; my main concern during the migration is
that when I copy in the new data, the new database isn't paralyzed by
the amount of bulk copying being one. For this reason, I'm splitting
the data into one-month chunks (the data's all timestamped and goes
back about 3...

Hi,
I`m in the process of migrating a Access 2002 (Run in 2000 mode) from
Windows 98 to Win2K Server. It is a shared resource via a file share on
the 98 Server. Client systems are Win98 with the shared drive mounted
and the application run via the shared drive.
I have tried once before, but came across some file locking issues. I
thought i had addressed these file locking issues, but it came apparent
I hadn't when data started to get...

Like a lot of database developers, I often choose Jet for the back-
end. I'm starting to worry about what will happen when Jet is
deprecated. Ostensibly, Jet users like me must switch to SQL Server
(or MSDE / SQL Express), but there's something I just don't
understand.
Without Jet, how will we create file server database applications? In
other words, how will we create multi-user apps which use a file
server to share data and don't...

Hi there,
I've migrated a database named "crime" from an MS Access database to MySQL 5.0.37 using the MySQL Migration Toolkit 1.1.11. What i want to do is to copy the database folder from
C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\data
to the same folder on another machine. So i copied the files directly over, ran MySQL and it recognizes the database (i can see the database included in the list) when i type the command
mysql> show...

Hi all,
So I bought a new laptop 10 days ago to test my apps with Vista. (home premium)
Apparently Office 2007 is pre-installed. (a time limited but complete test version, no SP1)
So I take the opportunity to test some new features of Access2007 before actually 'stepping over'.
First thing that troubles me of course is 'the ribbon', but my question now is about speed.
I opened one of my Access 2000-apps in Access 2007.
Speed and...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
