Hi.
I am wondering if it is a good idea to replicate sql server db files
using frs.
I don't really know how the frs works, so
does frs replicates the whole database from time to time or just the
portion that is changed?
Also if the db is expected to change very often, and wouldn't it make

I am using VS.NET 2005 beta 2. When I run my project locally using the
default ASP.NET Development Web Server it runs using a root address like
this:
http://localhost:11243/testsite/
However when I deploy to a remote test server running real IIS, the real
root of my application becomes:
http://localhost/
What I want to do is have it so that on my local machine the asp.net dev

Hello!
I have 24/7 production server under high load.
I need to perform vacuum full on several tables to recover disk
space / memory usage frequently ( the server must be online during
vacuum time )
The one trick that i see is to try to vacuum duplicate of
production database ( or just some tables ).
But there are some pitfalls:

I have a number of applications that need to access the same object at
different times and any one of these programs may be running at any one
time. I do not have a specific application that could act as the
server. So I want to give each application the capability of being the
server and the first one to start gets the job.
Unfortunately to do this I need some way of detecting whether a server
is already running. I was hoping that...

Hi,
I've a question regarding the transaction-log backup on SQL-Server
2000. We have implemented a low cost replication. Every evening we make
a full backup and beginning at 7 to 18 we make transaction-log backups
which are restore (no recovery) to the "standby-server". The full
backups are restored every evening.
Today i noticed something strange. Yesterday the last transaction log
was made at 19 and afterwards applied to the standby...

We have a script that I had to rework a little bit for 2005 that does
a full backup for every database on the server... For some reason on
some nights the script does not backup all databases... Its like it
skips over it for some reason... Output of the script below on the
night in question was:
Executed as user: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. master
(Message 0) Status is ONLINE dbname / dbdevice = master / SQLBUmaster
(Message 0) Processed...

There seems to be a lot of confusion around the groups about linking
to an Access mdb with the SQL Server Jet OLE DB provider and I havent
been able to find a straight forward solution. Basically, I have an
Access MDB (A2K) on one server and a SQL Server DB (2005 std ed.) on
another - Both on the same network. I'm trying to create a linked
server object in the SQL server to view data in the mdb. I've set it
up and it works - but only from...

.... due to failure in receiving user's application data path.
Okay, this simply cannot be a problem unique to me and I assume there is a
straight forward solution, but it escapes me.
I have completed a fully functional application using ASP.NET 2 on my
development site. Wanting to make it functional on a different server, I
installed SQL Express on the target server, then moved the application using
Visual Web Development to the new...

I'm debugging an xmlrpc client/server application. Often when an
exception occurs in the server, I receive only a very short error
message on the client. For example:
xmlrpclib.Fault: <Fault 1: "<type 'exceptions.AssertionError'>:">
Presumably this is because xmlrpclib on the server is catching the
exception, and only sending the exception name to the client, not the
server's stack trace.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
