Hi,
I have a problem restoring a Read-Only filegroup in a database.
I've restored the Read/Write filegroups first without any problem.
Then, I am able to recover Read-Only filegroups which do not contain fulltext indexes with the command :
RESTORE DATABASE GSM FILEGROUP = 'FG_RO_20080214 ' WITH RECOVERY
However, for filegroups containing FullText indexes (Fulltext indexes are in the same filegroup as data used for this index), I always get the following error :
Server: Msg 3149, Level 16, State 6, Line 1
The file or filegroup "sysft_CAT_SM_2 0080127" is not in a valid state for the "Recover Data Only" option to be used. Only secondary files in the OFFLINE or RECOVERY_PENDIN G state can be processed.
Server: Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
If I'm looking at sys.database_fi les catalog view, I can see the following
name type_desc state_desc
--------------------- ----------- -----------------
sysft_CAT_MS_20 080127 FULLTEXT RECOVERY_PENDIN G
Does anyone have an idea, please.
Thanks in advance
Patrick

Relevancy scores are normally defined by a MySQL query on a table that
has a fulltext index. The rules for relevancy scoring will exclude
certain words due to their being too short (minimum default is 4
letters).
This is the Fed. Everything is a TLA (three-letter acronym).
Therefore, since I'm building a PORTABLE web application, changing
MySQL's default settings for fulltext index querying is completely
undoable and unrealistic, so...

The table already has a fulltext index and from there I can use the
MySQL fulltext search query to get results as well as the relevancy
score.
The problem I have is that MySQL has a default setting whereby the
minimum amount of characters is 4 for a search. Being that we're
government and full of TLA (three-letter acronyms), that is not
practical, and furthermore, the app I'm building must be fully
portable, so having MySQL tweaked...

Retracing my problem leads me to believe I never successfully created
fulltext indexes for MySQL 3.23.58 MyISAM tables. I went to the MySQL
manual and was able - or so I thought - to create them, however, my
fulltext search queries fail in 3.23.58 but the exact queries (with
same data) work perfectly in 4.0.10.

Hello,
I have a database with three text fields in it , each with a fulltext index.
If I do a fulltext query against one of the fields, the explain says it will
use the index. If I do a query on more than one of the fulltext fields, it
doesn't use any of the indexes. What am I missing here?
TIA,
Jay

I'm in the process of migrating a lot of data (millions of rows, 4GB+
of data) from an older SQL Server 7.0 database to a new SQL Server
2000 machine.
Time is not of the essence; my main concern during the migration is
that when I copy in the new data, the new database isn't paralyzed by
the amount of bulk copying being one. For this reason, I'm splitting
the data into one-month chunks (the data's all timestamped and goes
back about 3...

hi.
i need to restore an old database. The db was backed up using a DLT drive,
using 2 volumes. The content for the tapes was copied to file onto Solaris
machine using rsh and dd (for backup purposes). Now, the drive is defective
and can't read the tapes anymore.
Server is AIX 4.3.2 and database is IBM DB2 Server (DB2 for AIX Version
2.1.2)

(originally posted in database.myodbc by mistake)
I'm trying to speed up a fulltext search (MySQL 5.0.21, table has
670,000 records, about 900MBytes, machine has 1GB memory).
Fulltext search speed is quite variable -- sometimes really fast,
sometimes quite slow, so I'm trying to identify ways to make it more
consistent.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
