I've got 2 SQL server 2000 machined synched up using replication and there are full text catalogs running on 2 of the tables. the tables have the same number of records (as they're replicated) and when I freshly build the Full Text Catalogs on both the servers and run the same query against both the databases utilizing the Full Text Indexes... I get a different number of results returned. :-(
why would the number of records vary between replicated servers???
1 1018
Actually I've discovered WHAT is happening to account for the different result sets, but not WHY it's happening.. perhaps you've got some ideas?
if I run the following statement on the 2 databases I get different results:
"SELECT TOP 200000 2 As STYLE, Websites.BRANCH _ID, LTRIM(Websites. TITLE) As DISPLAY, Websites.WEBSIT E_ID, Websites.LINK FROM Websites WHERE CONTAINS(TITLE, '"yahoo.com" ') ORDER BY DISPLAY"
ON DB1 all results containing "yahoo.com" are returned.
DB1 RESULTS:
"yahoo.com - Maps of Rushville, Missouri, USA"
"yahoo.com - Maps of Rushville, Texas, USA"
However on DB2 it does something very different all results containing "yahoo.com" as PART OF A WORD are returned:
DB2 RESULTS:
"weather.yahoo. com - Weather in New Haven, Connecticut"
"clubs.yahoo.co m"
"yahoo.com - Maps of Rushville, Missouri, USA"
"yahoo.com - Maps of Rushville, Texas, USA"
NOW,
The records for clubs.yahoo.com do exist and ARE indexed in the Full Test Catalog on DB1. you can see them if you change the Where Clause to CONTAINS(TITLE, '"clubs.yahoo.c om"')
Why does DB2 return results where Yahoo.com is PART of a word (Like clubs.yahoo.com ) whereas DB1 will return only results where "yahoo.com" exists on it's own and not as part of a word....??????? ??????????????? ????
PERPLEXED!

I cannot see any counters, etc. to monitor this..??

Hi,
I am using Merge Replication for synchronizing a bunch of laptops
running MSDE with a central SQL Server 2000 production server.
This database is used by an application that needs to know which
records have not yet been replicated, at any givem time.
Here's a simple scenario:

I have an A2000 application that I have designed to use a replicated
Access database. The application permits information to be gathered on
cardiac patients in a hospital system. Most users will be viewing or
entering data at their workstations attached to the network. However,
there will be one mobile user who will walk around a hospital with a
tablet PC entering data. It was this user's needs that drove me to use
a replication...

I have a table which is replicated for after images only. I tried to
do an import using the replace option into the source table with data.
For some of the rows, they were not in the import file, so were
replaced in the master table as a result of the import. For the
replica database table, the "deleted" rows were not removed; they still
exist, along with all the new/updated records from the import. Is this
a restriction of DProp? ...

Hi,
My company has an old access database which has been in use for many
years now by a few employees. I need to make some design changes to
one of the forms, but I'm not sure how I should go about doing this. I
have designed databases with access before, but not when replication
was used.
So, should I first get everyone out of the database, then make a copy
of the database to which I will add my changes to. Then finally,

A client has a split database. However, the frontend is replicated.
Since both frontend databases(replicated + DM)are both on same network
drive, we would like to remove the replication of the front end. Can we
just delete one of them and point the shortcut to open the other?

I have a system built using Access replication. After some initial

I am curious as to how frequently others Compress & Repair replicated

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
