I am getting quite a few deadlock errors where both sessions are
trying to execute sp_execsql according to the the trace information in
the error log (see below). The database is being asscessed by an
application written in .NET, as well as a few people using Query
Analyzer. This seems to be happening relative randomly - can't pin it
to any specific circumstances. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have an archival process on a large database that runs once a month.
At the beginning of the process the triggers and indexes on the
tables whose data is moved are dropped, the data is moved and then the
triggers and indexes are recreated at the end. This produces a
massive improvement in performance.

I've got a view that creates a parent child relationship, this view is
used in Analysis Services to create a dimension in a datastore. This
query tends to deadlock after about 10 days of running smoothly. Only
way to fix it is to reboot the box, I can recycle the services for a
quick fix but that usually only works for the next 1-2 times I call the

Hi-
We ran into some very strange deadlocks this AM, and I was hoping to
get some insight. We were running a REORGCHK on a database, and
started getting deadlocks. What is curious is that according to the
deadlock event monitor, the deadlock was between the REORGCHK process
and another client attempting a SQL execution, and the Prepare was
requesting an Exclusive lock. Is that normal? Maybe I'm reading the
monitor output...

Hi,
The bigger my C# web-application gets, the more places I need to put in the
tedious retrying block of code to make sure operations that can run into
database deadlocks are re-run (retried) 3-4 times and give up if after that
it's still in deadlock. I'm very sure that many experienced people out
there already deal with this issue somehow. Is there an alternative to it?

I am getting a error sqlcode : -911, sqlstate : 40001 error, i.e.
Deadlock error while trying to drop the procedure.
I had seen cases of getting deadlocks in a table but not in
procedures.
Nobody is doing a call on that procedure.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
