I have an off-the-shelf app that uses an Access database as its
backend. One of the tables contains a field with an "OLE Object"
datatype. I'm writing some reports against this database, and I
believe this field contains data I need. When I view the table in
datasheet view, all I can see in this field is the string "Long
binary data".
So, I've got the problem of needing to extract data from this
field, but I don't know what format...

I will try to make this short and to the point.
I am reading values from a file using a Binary Reader.
At a particular address I can get a value of , Hex 10 or Hex 01 . (varies can be 30, 20, 02,03 etc.)
I need to keep those values as shown..........10 or 01.
And then split the value........ for instance the 10 becomes 1 or 0. (extract either the 1 or the 0 and display it)
Or in the case of the 01,,,,,,,,,,,0 or 1.( extract either the 0...

Hello.
I am attempting to write binary data from a file to an
OLE Object field, and then write the file back out from
the database. I am reading and writing the files in
binary mode, and using GetChunk and AppendChunk to read
and write binary data from the OLE Object field. I am
using VBA and DAO for this experiment. The OLE Object
field is being used to store Long Binary data.

Hi,
I am trying to get (and transfer over ASP.NET) some encrypted data
from some MySQL fields. Since the data contains many unicode
characters, I tried to get the data as a series of ASCII values,
transfer those numeric values over ASP.NET. I had no problem doing
this on my local computer, by getting the field with "cast(field as
BINARY)" so that on ASP.NET I have a byte array. Then send every
field of array over ASP.Net.

I am working with a sql server database. Due to a database udgrade, sever fields which were integer are now binary(16). These fields are used for joins later in the VB project. The problem I am haveing is that I have no idea how to read in the binary field! Here is the original code(using Visual Studio 08):
strRptPars(iCount).lID = adoOleDbDataReader.GetInt32(i)
Originally strRptPars(iCount).lID was defined as LONG. I tried changing it to...

Hello.
I have a table with a primary key, identity value. In addition to some other fields I also have a computed field to generate a binary identifier for the row based on the identity value (eg. PK ID of 1 would generate a binary ID of 1 (Power(2, -1) = 1), PK ID of 4 would generate a binary ID of 8 (Power(2, - 1) = 8). The problem is that there are +70 rows in this table so the binary ID gets quite large - out of the scope of int, bigint...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
