MS SQL Linked server - error on connection

1 New Member
Using a SQL Login account to attempt to run based LDAP query against Active Directory on a Domain Controller.

Originally used ADSI and pulled from Exchange Server AD. New network (multiple domains and different user groups) demanded ADSDSOObject query which included passing account User/Pass from an account on the Domain Controller (with limited permissions). This functioned.

New single domain is now in place. An instance of VMWare based SQL server for intranet use was created. Server Link registration worked. Both ADSI and ADSDSOObject Views/DTS/LDAP Queries/etc. fail with error below when attempting LDAP query to domain controller.

Query is run via DTS which access the VIEW for the query info.

An error occurred while preparing a query for execution against OLE DB provider 'ADSDSOObject'. OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'ADSDSOObject' ICommandPrepare ::Prepare returned 0x80040e14].

Any ideas from people with similar issues...

I can provide more details if required...

Thanks in advance ...

hello, I'm trying to create a linked server from an SQL2000 to a Unify ELS (very old, odbc is version 1) database on SCO unix. The odbc driver is old but it works fine when used by applications for creating reports. What I want to do is make a linked server from the SCO box to the win2k box. So, I'm using enterprise manager to create the linked server. The DSN of the unify database is CORE_OFFICE1 I'm getting 'Error 7399: OLE DB...

Hello group: I guessing there is no way to create an OLEDB linked table in Access to SQL Server, am I correct? Basically, I've currently migrated one of my Access database tables to SQL Server, and they are linked via an ODBC connection. I'm am attempting to make the logon to SQL server transparent so the users are never prompted to logon. I can easily create an ADO connection object in a procedure to open a connection with the proper...

An error "ODBC connection to failed" is raised when I am trying to get data from a table in Microsoft Access (97, or 2000) which is actually a linked table to another table in SQL Server 7 . The exception is raised from a Web .Net app while exactly the same code works fine in Windows .Net app. That makes me thinking the issue somehow is related to security context. Anyway I do not know how to solve the problem, and any help is...

I have a A2K database that includes some linked tables (these links are SQL views). Sometimes there are "issues" with the SQL server and the users receive a timeout error whenever they try to access those records. The timeout error occurs after 60 seconds. Many times the user has given up and used ctrl-alt-del to end task thinking their computer has locked up. I suppose I could change the default timeout from 60 seconds down to 30...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
