Since SQL 6.5 is a very old version, information about this may not be
that readily available. There are many experienced SQL Server users who
have never seen that version. I've run that install wizard a couple of
times, but I'm not going to write up an installation instruction from that.

The best advice for documentation I can give is that you first install
the tools only, so that you get Books Online, so you can read the
Setup instructions.

If you have specific questions, you can post them here, and maybe someone
can answer.

Finally, two reminders:
* SQL 6.5 is a very different architecture from SQL 2000.
* Don't forget to install SP5a, the last service pack foe 6.5.

Life is not good. So I've got a machine that I do some development work on, nothing major, but I'd like to keep some things intact. I'm running SQL Server 7, it's an old installation, but it works and I've got a number of databases on it. So I see the new 2005 Express downloads and I download the Web Developer edition, install it, it installs 2005, but my SQL Server 7 installation now seems to be hosed.

I am a DB2 DBA that has been asked to become familiar enough with SQL Server in order to become actively involved in its installation, implementation, and to review database backup/recovery procedures. SQL Server will be used by a vendor packaged application. The problem is that we are awaiting word on whether it will be SQL Server 2000 or 2005 we will be working with. I have been told that there are considerable differences between the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
