SELECT *
FROM OPENDATASOURCE(
'SQLOLEDB',
'Data Source=MSDEServ erNameHere;User ID=UID;Password =PWD'
).database.dbo. some_table
MSDE 2000 Release A installed under windows 2000 pro will not communicate with SQL Server Manager nor MS Access on peer computer. Can someone help? Have set DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0 at install time. Install log shows installation successful.. Control Panel> Admin Tools> Services section shows SQL server instance running.

MSDE is a COMPLETE MARKETING and LICENSING/VERSION FAILURE as ZERO PEOPLE USE IT for anything, even development. I have heard Gurus, .NET authors, UserGroups, .NET Evangelists, RD's and MVP's mention it as an alternative to MySQL. TOTAL B.S. and CLUELESSNESS on their part as well as Microsoft. It's the developer who is going to create the database anyway and anyone who wants to use SQL Server has got an MSDN Universal Subscription...

I have a VB 6 program that I have saved an audio file to using DAO and the appendchunk as is shown at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/103257/EN-US/. ; I have it working fine in that app (it saves to an access database and I can save the data back to a file using getchunk and everything works correctly). The issue is that I am now trying to access the database in VB.NET 2003 through an OleDBDataAdapter (Jet 4.0 connection) and can't get it...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
